Painting seems like a basic concept. You just get a brush and apply the paint to the wall. While this approach will work, quality painting is a set of skills, without which the painting job will have visible errors and look poor. But with the proper technique, a homeowner can paint his own house, and improve the dwelling with a professional quality job. Before painting anything, it's important to have the proper equipment. Understand that anything you wear will get paint on it, no matter how careful you are. This includes hats, watches, glasses and shoes. If you wear glasses, it's a good idea to wear a baseball style hat to keep drips off the lenses, and to keep paint out of hair. Traditional colors for painters' clothing is white, but anything that you don't plan to wear for any other purpose. Long pants and sleeves are good, since getting paint off arms and legs can be difficult. Actual painting equipment needed includes rollers, a roller pan and extender handles. You'll also need a drop cloth and masking tape. Old sheets can work, but a drop cloth specifically designed for the purpose will not soak through as readily as a sheet. Paint brushes and small rollers will probably also be needed. You'll need paint stirring sticks, and of course, the actual paint. Depending on the area to be painted, a ladder or step stool will also be necessary. Lighting is important, since defects in painting often do not show up well under poor light. If the room cannot be lit well with daylight or room lights, halogen work lights should be used. Finally, a fan or two might be necessary, to keep the room ventilated, since paint fumes are dangerous.

Jerry Saltz blocked me
EDIT 2: he's a pullitzer prize winning art critic
Is this common? I commented disagreeing on his recent IG post in which he screen recorded like 10 different abex artist process videos, shared them without credit, and called their work "paintsturbatory," and accused the artists of not "being themselves" because their work is too similar to the greats of the 70s. He also said that if you don't innovate, then you're "disrespecting art."
Does he delete and block commenters who disagree often? I mostly disagreed with the sentiment about innovation and not being yourself. For full transparency, I did also point out that a lot of the comments were from other abex painters agreeing with him, even though their work looks very similar to the stuff he shared. (Keyword similar)
I also did say that I found his post to be masturbatory in of itself, that may have also crossed a line.
Edit: I'm new to the "art world," I'm an artist myself and I mostly think the art world is a load of BS (meaning the market/critics/systems in place. Not saying the art within it is BS, although there are definitely some BS artists haha)
