Children's Book Reviews - The Big Animal Mix-Up
Tumblr media
This is my first review of a children’s book I recently love in a part of my new series of reviewing children’s books called “Children’s Book Reviews” in which I talk all about books dedicated for kids and some of my favorite books that I grew up with in my childhood.
In this series, we’ll talk all about hybrid animals and guess what animal it is! It’s like a riddle story just in case. Every description has a hint that you should try to guess. So let’s get into it!
OVERVIEW
The book is very enjoyable that kids would certainly love. Some of them had riddles that you should try to guess by lifting under the flap to reveal the animal. Every flap was labeled “Hang on a minute” which reminds me of that one meme sound effect “Hold up”. After you lift the flap, you guessed the animal right!
WRITING
The writing has a lot of riddles to guess from like what I did on the overview. It is like a guessing game. You try to guess it but no peeking or cheating at it.
ILLUSTRATIONS
The illustrations are nice and cute and the characters are very cartoony. The illustrations are created by a Japanese artist named Kanako Usui. The illustrations are simple and the colors are bright and beautiful. Kids would be amazed by the illustration.
OVERALL
The book is my childhood favorite and I grew up reading in my old school back then. The book also reminds me of an animated Disney TV series called “The Wuzzles” because the characters are all hybrid animals, the same as the book. The book also reminds me of another cartoon about hybrid animals which is a Canadian cartoon that aired from Teletoon called “Spliced” which is all about the hybrid animals living on an island.
Anyways, I rated the book 10/10 because the book is enjoyable because there’s a whale at the end.
