So half my dash has been taken up by Fictober/Kinktober/Whumptober prompts and I just wanted to give writers a little reminder: it’s ok if you don’t finish your challenges.

It’s ok to not have something written for every day of the month. It’s ok to post one thing and have that be it. It’s ok to plan for a full month of posts, but then stop because you’re tired or life gets in the way. It’s ok to not participate at all. You aren’t any less of a writer, or any more of one, based on your *insert pun*-tober output.

Summary: Moving to Austin, in a way, made things easier than TK expected. Having a support system that never faltered, that didn't know the depths of it but still supported him, was something TK never knew he craved until he moved. A simple case wasn't supposed to be enough to knock it all down. He wasn't meant to be faltering just days before reaching 2 years. He wasn't supposed to. And yet, here he was.

Hello, and welcome to the first annual Buddie AU Fic Fest!

As fanfic writers, we’ve found ourselves drawn to the same old solid tropes, time and time again. Domesticity, canon compliance, you get the picture. They’re tried and true for a reason — they simply work, and they’re fun to write! However, as time’s gone on, we’ve found ourselves wanting to be challenged a bit more in our writing, and to get a bit more variety in the fics we actually read. Thus, the AU Fic Fest was born!

This is a fic fest consisting entirely of AUs, and they can be as wild or as simple as you like! Wanna write a fic where they’re vampires set in the 90s? Go crazy! Wanted to write them as aliens on a completely different planet where Buck has three heads and Eddie gets around on tentacles? Knock yourself out! The whole point of this fic fest is to promote creativity, and thinking outside of the box, encouraging you to try something new!

More information about the fic fest can be found on our sign-up form, which can be found here. Sign-ups will be available for a month (July 3rd - August 2nd). All of the information you submit will be treated with the utmost amount of privacy, and will only be seen by the two admins.

This is an official announcement for the first Best of Buddie event. It is an appreciation project aimed at the fandom’s creators, much like this entire blog. Except you all get to choose which fics make it into the event. How will that work? Just keep reading below and you’ll find out.

Information

This is going to be a poll-run event. That means nominations first and then voting voting voting.

There will be a total of 30 categories. Yep, you read that correctly. 30 categories that you can nominate fics in. 

Each category will end with 1 winning fic and 2 runner-up fics.

You absolutely can nominate your own fics but it would be nice if you would nominate other authors as well.

You can nominate up to 5 fics in each category.

Nominations will close on 7/3/22, after which I will create poll pages for voting and post an announcement with links.

Below the cut, you will find the list of categories, links to the AO3 tag (where I can) for that category, and directions for where to nominate fics. Only completed fics will be included in voting. 

This is meant to be a purely fun, positive event. So let’s have fun!
