Achilles was doing just fine being dramatic and blond until his boyfriend died, then he got the urge to solo an entire war and went full Greek John Wick. Like… blond men will literally kill a prince, desecrate a body, and cry on a beach for days instead of going to therapy.
do we think blond men are born evil or does some tragic event occur with all of them in their formative years

Outing myself as the anon who asked for more iliad headcanons bc I want to get the notification of this ask lmao. Anyways, I'm very interested in the whole "Helenos and Kassandra of Troy are mirror figures of Apollo and Artemis" bc even though that area is not my forte, I'm always ready to listen to this kind of stuff, and I'm intrigued!
Helenos and Kassandra as mortal mirrors of Apollo and Artemis makes so much sense when you think about it
like. twins. prophetic. marked by the gods. doomed by the gods. gendered reflections of the divine — and punished for it.
Helenos, the “favored” one, the one who ends up surviving, the one who walks away from troy with his gift intact — echoes of Apollo, god of knowledge, medicine, and distant violence. He’s prophetic, yes, but his voice is still heard. He plays the role he’s expected to. He’s spared. His survival isn’t just about fate — it’s about conformity. Helenos is what prophecy looks like when it doesn’t scare people, when it bends instead of resists.
And Kassandra. Oh, Kassandra. Cursed by the very god who gave her her gift. Doomed to be disbelieved. Her insight becomes her punishment, her clarity drives her into isolation. She’s not just like Artemis — she is what happens when Artemis’s autonomy is denied in a mortal girl. Hunted. Unlistened to. Her refusal seals her fate and punished for asserting the kind of wild, untouchable power the gods reserve for themselves.
The gift that destroys her becomes a tool her brother carries into safety.
Apollo and Artemis: twins of prophecy, power, and distance.
Helenos and Kassandra mirror them in mortal form — the boy whose gift is accepted, the girl whose truth is cursed. Helenos reflects Apollo’s controlled clarity; Kassandra, Artemis’s untouchable defiance. And like all mortals who echo gods too closely, they pay the price.
Divinity mirrored in humanity always burns.

Hi! I'm here humbly requesting more Iliad headcanons because I'm living for them!
Hii!! I'm so so so happy you like them, it means a lot!
Iliad headcanons part 3 because somebody asked <3
Telemachus as a kid actually breaks my heart. He always lives with the idea of a father and doesn't grow up with one. Even when Ody is back, he struggles not to idealize his father like he did as a child because he actually just had the idea of him the whole time.
Helenos and Kassandra of Troy are mirror figures of Apollo and Artemis to me. Helenus even means "light" or "shining one" and Kassandra "the one who shines or excels over a man". Let me know if you want a separate post on this theory!
Hector's horses actually just have names like "sparkles" and "blondie" because he probably asked his little siblings to name them. He's literally the best big brother. It's giving letting your little sibling put a really unserious sticker on your laptop and you still loving it
Achilles and Patroclus go on date nights on the beach near the camp. Just imagine them looking at the stars and Pat explaining the constellations while Achilles looks at his whole universe next to him not listening to a word like the hopeless idiot that he is

Iliad headcanons even though nobody asked part 2:
Patroclus adores when Achilles is very possessive about him. He enjoys the attention he gets from other men that gift him nice things or thank him for healing them, while Achilles watches like a rabid animal because HOW DARE THEY EVEN LOOK AT HIS PATROCLUS.
Achilles likes to be babied. Don't fight me on this one! Even though he seems on the outside like he is a tough and big warrior, he has an incredibly soft spot for Patroclus overly taking care of him and telling him he did sooo well, as he would tell one of his dogs. Also, he definitely is the worst when he has a man-cold lol
Deiphobos and Hector are absolutely inseparable brothers. As kids, they would not go anywhere without the other and do lots of nonsense. They still play pranks on each other when they're older, and love to gossip about the court and warriors while drinking tea and doing face masks hahah. (Also i'm pretty sure Hector once cut Dei's hair pretty badly even though it was Dei's request)
Peleus and Phoenix definitely had a thing for each other. Phoenix was also exiled and found refuge in the palace with the prince. They are like Achilles and Patroclus if Achilles would have chosen not to go to war and marry in Phthia...

Iliad headcanons even though nobody asked part 1:
Diomedes cusses with a worse vocabulary than a middle aged truck driver after every second sentence that comes out if his mouth.
Odysseus weirdly enjoys board game nights and cheats on every chance he gets to win. If he is caught, he will gaslight the shit out of you until you simply don't have the nerve to discuss any further.
Menelaus writes love letters to Helen while in the Greek camp; since he cannot send them, he keeps them in a box he later gifts to Helen as they marry a second time back in Sparta.
Hector adores having spa days. Also he gets really upset when nobody wants to join him to drink tea since it's something he really enjoys doing with his siblings to gossip or simply talk to them.
Andromache is like an older sister to many siblings of Hector and often spends time with the younger ones, especially when Hecuba is taking care of her eldest sons after battle.

Polydamas definitely had a crush on Hector of Troy and honestly just wanted the best for him...
also in my head he's just a chill guy that watches birds and loves to talk to Hector about them
Polydamas: Hector look at those birds they are probably trying to tell us something important
Hector: For gods sake Polydamas can you stop looking at the sky it's been 2 hours
Lets talk about Polydamas cause that man was way too hot to be forgotten by yall✋️
