theres a small part of me that thinks the reason Chilchuck stayed with the party and went back in the dungeon in the first place was because he didn’t want to leave Laios alone. That Laios was moreso the reason he stayed.

dungeon meshi au were everything is the same but it also exists vampires and honestly idc who in chilaios would be one but i think it would be cute vampire laios seeing chilchuck squishy cheeks and thinking "its so cute i want to bite them"

someone already said this but my fav scenario is chilchuck is a vampire but laios also wants to bite him and drink his blood. for fun :)

but yes vampire laios is also very good... imagine he wants to drink from chilchuck so bad but he he feels guilty about it because chil is so small and it would take so little to make him pass out from blood loss... (chil tells him its worth it and laios indulges and chilchuck passes out in his arms hehehehe(evil laugh))

I need more people to know this fact because I've only seen like one person mention it. It will never cease to amuse me just what information we have about the dungeon meshi races. Specifically, this is about the races that can have viable vs. fertile offspring together.

We know that most of the possible race pairings can have viable offspring, but most of those offspring are not fertile. Laios literally compares it to donkeys and horses having mules. Autistic king.

However, there are three pairings that are genetically compatible enough to produce fertile offspring:

Gnomes and Dwarves

Tallmen and Oni

Tallmen and Half-foots

And I find it even funnier that the two races that Tallmen produce fertile offspring with are the tallest and smallest races. Although it does make a lot of sense. Especially Tallmen and Half-foots because Half-foots don't exist in many places in their world, and the places they do are populated by Tallmen. Plus, their life expectancy is pretty comparable (60 for Tallmen, 50 for Half-foots)

While it's not explicitly stated, I personally think that that means they probably have children often or at least often enough to know the offspring are fertile.

My condolences to any Half-foot woman who decides to have a baby with a Tallman because this art Ryoko Kui did exists:

did some math based on adventurer's bible stuff about average sizes of tallmen & half-foots & the canon heights of the characters and. chilchuck is the half-foot equivalent of 6'5

this is a redraw of the second art i ever did for my fic, and i'm certainly a lot happier with it! it's not a specific scene or anything, i just think laios would find creative ways to dance with chilchuck if the topic came up

look at how each of them is handling the instrument. chilchuck is confused and overwhelmed by the hurdy gurdy, he doesn‘t really understand it but he makes the attempt to play it anyways, struggling in the process, though trying to be careful, as we see with his raised pinky and the gentle way he handles it. laios on the other hand is putting all his effort into blowing that trombone, cheeks red and eyes popping out of his skull. hes passionate and dedicated and desperate to make this work, though he could probably be a bit more careful, just like chilchuck should handle his instrument with more confidence. neither of them are very good at this, but they‘re trying their best.

also the instruments themselves say a lot. chilchuck has a hurdy gurdy, a rare instrument that seems odd at first, confusing and maybe even frustrating to people who don‘t know how to play it, yet rewarding once you put in the time and effort to learn. laios has a trombone, a loud, maybe even abrasive instrument if you don‘t know how to play it right, yet with time and practice it becomes melodious. each has an instrument representing the other, and each is trying their best to learn. and thats true love.

its also important to mention the water bottle between their chairs. its a bit more on chilchucks side, yet why would he need a water bottle, considering its the only water bottle in the image and chilchuck is one of the people who doesn‘t play an instrument that you blow into? the answer is clear. why would chilchuck have a water bottle and conveniently place it between his and laios‘ chair? because he may not need the water, but laios sure does.

one last thing. body language experts say that people point their foot towards the person they feel most comfortable with or are interested in. now look where laios‘ foot is pointing. i rest my case
