Happy Birthday to the guy and the game that's had a chokehold on my brain for the past few years. They mean a lot to me
(I also had a white outline of some of Wilson's details but it looks better without it, you guys can still see it if you want down under the cut)

It's OC time. scary I know. I've had her for almost 3 years ahsjkdahksd

Her name is Widget Helmer, she's a borrower! Raised in a church by a previously seafaring father and a center-of-the-community-family mother, her and her family have a different-than-normal approach to how they think about borrowing because of being Christians. They try to repay for borrowing as much as they can, in their own way- they do little repairs and help find particular lost things when they can (safely). They do know how to forage and hunt, too, so they're not completely reliant on borrowing.
Widget, as she got older, felt anxious with her increasing realization of the dependency of so many things around her- general dependency on others, borrowers dependency on lenders (that's what I'm calling normal sized people), and her own dependency on her parents. So, with their approval and a bittersweet farewell, she set out to try to figure things out on her own.
She, uh, also doubles as a dst oc. That info is going under the cut and it's sorta long
Ok anyways. The dst part of it is like an au (I guess?) continuation of all the above stuff for her.
Widget travels for a while, having trouble finding a good balance of not completely independent/not too dependent. Eventually she happens upon a secluded, recently abandoned, semi-dilapidated old house. She moves in, and things seem to be going well- there's enough resources around the house to sustain her, and there's plenty of useful junk in the attic to make tools out of. Aside from the concerning presence of an entire human lender-sized skeleton somewhere under the floorboards, the only real problem is the rats... at least, until someone unexpectedly moves in.
To her dismay, the new homeowner is a scientist, which is one of the most dangerous kinds of lenders to live around. She considers leaving, but this is one of the first places she's decided to stay at that's felt right for her so far. So she decides to keep living there, being extra vigilant about maneuvering around this lender's science-ing and inconsistent schedule.
And then one day the radio starts talking to him. It makes a deal with him and he? accepts??? Widget is sure that the radio is under a demonic influence of some sort. Despite the general rule about not communicating to lenders under any circumstances, she feels compelled to convince him to stop. She'd prefer to do it subtly, but if it got bad enough, she would consider doing it directly... Even if the thought of doing that sends the worst feeling through her insides.
As per canon, the deal with the radio leads to a strange machine being built, despite Widget's efforts. She is standing in the room as the man is told to throw the switch to the machine. She means to call out, to tell him to stop, but she's filled with such dread that she can't find her voice. Unfortunately she hesitated for too long- she had a sliver of hope that the man would come to his senses, and it seemed like he might have had, for a split second- until the radio shouts at him. Before she can say or do anything, the switch is thrown, and everything goes horribly wrong. The man is taken away by shadows, and the radio addresses her this time.
"Don't think I haven't noticed you trying to ruin my plans," it says as shadows swirl around Widget, trapping her. Large shadowy claws rise out of the surrounding darkness. "Consider this the consequence of your failure to stop me." The claws zip towards her, grab her, and pull her into the ground, like they had just done to the man.
And now she's in the Constant hurray!
