what they don’t tell you about uncluttering your countertops/tables/general spaces is you’ll think it’s dumb as hell & allow it to all pile up because the idea of organizing and removing shit is daunting but once you do it and step back and See how things look without clutter you will feel as though you just snorted a line.

sometimes I remember that the death of matthew shepard and the repeal of DADT and the Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage all happened in my lifetime and I’m not even 35 yet and like, no wonder us elder millennial and gen x queers have such extreme cognitive dissonance what the fuck

This is frustrating.
I love the comparison, but I hate how they are comparing.
They are acting like she is using optics to give herself an advantage. But the device she is wearing is just for comfort and essentially does the same thing as closing one eye and squinting the other.
The little thing over the left eye is basically like an eye patch.
And the thing over her right eye is a mechanical iris, like in a camera lens, but it is NOT a lens.
Different lighting environments are going to be brighter or darker and you may have to squint more or less to let in the same amount of light into your eye. Squinting allows the shooter to get the sharpest possible vision in order to shoot a bullseye the size of a 12-point Times New Roman period.
But if you have to squint for hours for practice and in competition, this can strain your face muscles and become uncomfortable. So this iris basically squints for you.
It's more like wearing comfortable shoes so your feet do not hurt than a lens magnifying the target and giving an advantage.
Both athletes have access to these items. One felt more comfortable without them. The other didn't feel like getting a muscle cramp from squinting all day.
Either would have shot the same if they had or had not used these devices.
Just a funny difference in gear preference.
I should also add, the Turkish dad is the only one using lenses.

““These guys are just weird, that’s what they are. It isn’t much else. Don’t give them the power. Look, are they a threat to democracy? Yes. Are they going to take our rights away? Yes. Are they going to put people’s lives in danger? Yes. Are they going to endanger the planet by not dealing with climate change? Yes. They are going to do all that. But don’t lift these guys up as if they’re some kind of hero. A bully has no self-confidence, a bully has no strength. The fascists depend on fear. The fascists depend on us going back. But we’re not afraid of weird people. We’re a little bit creeped out but we’re not afraid.””
— Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz

whenever people are like ugh the life in stardew valley is so idyllic i truly cant comprehend that. absolutely love it as a video game but waking up at 6 am every day to do manual labor in an insular small town that has exactly one restaurant is a nightmare scenario.
