hwasa’s words mean so much to me as an Asian-American woman, a woman, a person for multiple reasons, but here are just some of them.

1. I feel like her words ring more to me than other idols because she didn’t conform to the rules society placed on her. Her thighs are still thick, her body still has curves, she isn’t a cookie cut idol and she’s confident in herself and in her skin. She may diet, but not in an unhealthy way, as she eats and enjoys herself. Any other idol can tell me the same thing, but in all honesty I’d look at them and be like: well you’re skinny, you have slim legs, arms, a flat tummy, etc., which doesn’t take away their sweet intent, but just doesn’t hit me the same as someone who is highly unconventional. I just mean that their bodily issues are something I cannot relate to—which doesn’t make them any less valid but to me is what makes hwasa such an inspiration, because she is not just another petite, short, pale Asian woman telling me to love myself and being #inspirational #relatable

2. Asian woman are highly objectified everywhere, by everyone, and yet with Hwasa I feel this safe feeling because she’s shown to the world that she is more than her body and sex appeal. She has so many charms and a life that is almost untouchable to me, a reality that breaks through the disillusionment and systematic factory that is kpop. She reminds me a lot of CL and 2NE1 as they broke so many molds and inspired so many women. She’s seen for her personality almost as much as her sexiness which seems to be so rare in the world—to be seen past your Charms and appeal of your stage persona. She embraces her sexy side and has a complex personality of cuteness, shyness, shadiness, seriousness, that is more than just being an idol. You can tell the people who meet her look and talk to her like she is human. She is literally humanized!!! And the fact that this is not a usual thing is damning once I realized it! I don’t know how to explain it, but that word is what speaks to me.

Anyways I know those are just two things, but they sum up a lot of my thoughts on why I felt her words were so important and inspiring
