I think uni has calmed down enough I will actually remember to post journals. I am really enjoying this semester, there is just so much for me to do!
In terms of classes, I have:
Linguistics
History and Theory of Anthropology
Great European Film Directors
The Crusades
Astronomy
I have great professors all around, and I can really see how much I have improved across all my academic fields.
I am also a peer consultant at the writing center as well as a writing fellow for a Health class. So helping people with their writing on top of my own. Beyond that I am the Vice-President of the History Club on campus and one of the History Department’s Undergraduate Ambassadors, so lots of drain on my time. I have been managing it well though, and really enjoying everything.
I am still volunteering at the museum, and we are having a fly day for the volunteers to fly in the aircraft, very very exciting!
Off to take linguistics notes. Then a presentation for my Crusades class and a film review for my Film class.

Back to university!
Apologies for the lack of posts over the summer, I quite honestly didn’t stop moving from end of June until just now. But with the first week of uni out of the way, I am back in the swing of homework and posting.
I am taking a number of very interesting classes this semester. The above is from my Linguistics class. I also have classes on the History and Theory of Anthropology, the Crusades, and Great European Film Directors of the Late 20th Century.
Plenty of papers due the rest of the year, as well as acting as a writing fellow. I have a new job as a writing and communication consultant, so I will be up to my ears in Chicago style papers in a few weeks.
Not much time for reading or seeing recently and I need to catch up on more than a few emails and letters. But first, diphthongs!

If you could read one last book, where and what would you read? Withal, do you believe that the universe has conspired for you to be who you are and where you are?
Oh what a torturous question to ask…
After intense deliberation, a very close tie between His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novik and the complete Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle has emerged. It would be shameful to ask me to choose between my two favorites of all time and I shan’t.
I would read either on a sunny midsummer evening in the Yorkshire Dales after a rainstorm, preferably with my partner.
As to the universe, I do not think there is any great plan or conspiracy. I think there is luck, and that is something that you can have, gain, and run out of. I am a lucky person, but I also have made my own luck. The universe may have put things in my path, but I ultimately chose what to do with the cards I was dealt.
I am who I am and I am where I am just as much despite the universe as because of it.

Summer continues its relentless intolerance of letting me keep to schedules. I really need to update more often and more throughly.
Today I catalogued books into the library database at the other museum I work at. There was a donation of 27,000 books in October last, and we have been frantically imputing data, printing labels, and double checking to ensure all are ready for the new library when it is built. We certainly do not have the room for all the books in the current library space.
It has been dreadfully hot in my area recently, although it hasn’t been humid, though when I go to visit my grandmother later this week it will be just as hot and very humid. Woe is me.
I spent the afternoon doing paperwork and accounting for my mother’s business, so that was a mindless afternoon well spent. I have to write and prep for my DnD groups session tomorrow, as that is the plight of the dungeon master.
I don’t think I’ll top last months record of 12 books, but I will have a shapely 8 if this next one doesn’t take to long to read. Hoping to get some of that reading done tonight after dinner.

Forgetting entirely that I said I would update as much as possible as my trip to London processed, it is now the 18th…
I have done a great deal at the museum, I am currently working on cataloging the contents of one of Arthur Harris’ “Blue Books” showing the bombing raids carried out by the RAF during the war, very interesting. I also got to go to a lecture given by one of the few people in my field of study and that was excellent.
I have a new job at my university! I am a writing consultant to help people with essays, creative writing, mock interviews, etc. I am very excited, who knew writing fan fiction of Victorian novels in my spare time would be one of the things that got me the job. Ah revoir retail, you will not be missed.
I went up to Edinburgh for one day this weekend and it was absolutely lovely. The sky’s were perfectly cloudy and I got a Harris tweed satchel.
I have been consuming books and podcast episodes at an alarming rate, Catch-22 is my favorite read so far of the month.

I am so happy to be back in London! I took the last few days to get over my jet lag, but I am back at the museum. I am helping get ready for the D-Day displays, as tomorrow is the 80th anniversary. Lots of wonderful artifacts are going to be used and they all need captions.
I took a couple wonderful walks (10 miles total) in order for ire myself out enough to sleep. I am hoping to be much more active in terms of updating my journal with reading and various other odds and ends. I have seen so many wonderful friends already and I can’t wait to see more. I have missed this city very much.
