i fucking hate when people attribute a lot of the good stuff about indigenous culture to some inexorable Race Quality.
as if having a sustainable, beneficial, harmonious relationship to the land is due to some sort of Magic Race Genes. I mean it's a continuation of the idea that indigenous people couldn't have possibly done all this cultural stuff themselves so it must be hardwired into their biology.
its literally just racism and essentialism.
it's so gross and yet i keep seeing people make this mistake

I've always found it very interesting that, even though Chihiro largely begins the film as very sheltered and inexperienced, the fact stands that if her parents had listened to her they wouldn't have been turned into pigs.
I always interpreted her initial hesitancy to enter the tunnel, and then her refusal to eat the food, as very instinctual, and I think it's often overlooked that she's right. The abandoned station was creepy! The spirits were mad that her parents ate the food! Children often occupy this weird space where they're still learning about social rules and consequences, and in this case Chihiro's observance of those rules (don't enter weird abandoned buildings, don't just eat random food you find lying around) is objectively correct. Obviously if her parents had followed those rules the movie wouldn't have happened, but I've always found those moments a very interesting portrayal of how children vs adults navigate the world, and how the rules we (adults) often enforce on children we ourselves ignore whenever we find them inconvenient.

What to boycott NOW to help stop Israel’s unfolding genocide of Palestinians in Gaza
Reminder that boycotting DOES work, there is historic proof! Don't let anyone discourage you otherwise!
The BDS movement uses the historically successful method of targeted boycotts inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement, the US Civil Rights movement, the Indian anti-colonial struggle, among others worldwide.
We must strategically focus on a relatively smaller number of carefully selected companies and products for maximum impact. Companies that play a clear and direct role in Israel’s crimes and where there is real potential for winning, as was the case with, among others, G4S, Veolia, Orange, Ben & Jerry’s and Pillsbury. Compelling such huge, complicit companies, through strategic and context-sensitive boycott and divestment campaigns, to end their complicity in Israeli apartheid and war crimes against Palestinians sends a very powerful message to hundreds of other complicit companies that “your time will come, so get out before it’s too late!”

[ID: Tweet by @/bintyalo that says, "If Israelis were indigenous to Palestine, they wouldn't be so ok with its destruction. They wouldn't burn olive trees that are older than their constitution. They wouldn't attack historical religious buildings. Their hearts would ache at the destruction of our land". End ID]

Anyone can help!

(Real pen the last picture)
It is important for EVERYONE to know how to help ANYONE. Not everyone can give them selves their medicine under every circumstance. Be educated, help out.
In the last year, i have gotten about five new violent allergies from foods i used to be able to eat. Next time i eat a fruit, my throat could close. I may not be able to inject myself. My boyfriend and i played with my trainer pen for like 30 minutes. He knows how to inject it. I know how. This is important.
