A Comercial

The silence after an argument.

The instant between a child's birth and its first breath.

The instant between saying I do and their last breath.

The eternity between clicking on a video and being able to click skip commercial.

A beat of a hummingbird's wing

How slowly you realize that you never just look at trees.

How quickly you realize that the reason you never go outside is bugs.

How long it's been since you've spoken with your best friend and how fast the time goes when you two are talking.

Time is a constant.

The only thing that changes is how you use it.

My thoughts on House Speaker Johnson:

From CNN: "As the latest mass shooting unfolded in Maine, Johnson said guns are not to blame for these horrible, recurring incidents. In his view, since a person could use a car to mow people down, it makes no sense to further regulate guns."

Yes, you can use a car to murder multiple people. But if you want to own a car legally you have to:

1) Buy the car and report it to the state department of motor vehicles.

2) Have and maintain a current valid driver's license.

3) Obey the laws of the road, which includes not "mowing people down". If you fail to do any of these things, you are committing a crime.

Members of both parties agree on this. So why is it that you change the 3-letter word from "car" to "gun" members of the Maga party have a fit? "It's in the Constitution" they say. I believe the words "well regulated" are too.

Growing Pains

I

wrote

a poem

on a page

but then each line grew

to the word sum of the previous two

until I began to worry about all these words coming with such frequency

because as you can see, it can be easy to run out of space when a poem gets all Fibonacci sequency
