Workshop Space
My project is not only grounded in the wood craving activity but I also want the activity to take place in a culture-provoke space. A space that can embrace Indigenous heritage
I have decided to visit Queensland Museum to have the inspiration to renovate the space inside the container for the Workshop.
Pattern:
I have looked at artworks of Aboriginal artists and realised the pattern of dots, lines and circles along with the dominant of warm colors. These pattern will be used for walls decoration to create an immersive space for participants.
(Kawiny,2011)
Pearl shell pendant:
This artwork of Aubrey Tigan has replicated the artifact that signifies the 'water' of the Bardi people. This item is very suitable to be present in the Workshop space as it not only represents an Aboriginal symbol but is also linked with the 'water' from the river of Northshore.

Include a workshop to learn 'carving small animal forms'. The class focus on the design and interpretation of animal forms, timber and tool selection, knife sharpening,...
The Expo follows sustainable policies by using sustainable sources of timber wood collected from where it presents a danger to people e.g. trees that have fallen or are likely to fall across roads. Or recycled timbers from the demolition of buildings and other constructions.

Final Idea
After considering the target audience and client brief. I have short-listed down to 2 main ideas. The fist one is a museum featuring the plant and animal of the location using VR.
The second idea is a wood crafting and painting workshop with chang in themes and subjects week/monthly.
Weight the pros and cons. I decided to go with the final idea of the Workshop.

Current challenge
The location is now well known with Eat Street that have attracted many visitors. However, the opening hours will only be from 4PM-10PM on Friday and Saturday, and 4PM-9PM on Sunday so the venue is not in use during the daytime or on weekdays.
Eat Street
Moreover, the Maritime Green space is used for Brisbane Festival’s performances and exhibitions once a year.
Brisbane Festival
The two use of the space mentioned are both in the form of pop-ups and can only attract an irregular flow of customer visits. The situation spark the need for a more sustainable, and timeless use of the space

Site Research
During the next research step, I have looked into the history of Northshore. Northshore was an important fishing and campground for First Nation people. The location was once a home to thousands with the traditional Aboriginal base camps but then the camp disappeared by the 1910s.
Base Camp
Reagarding the fauna and flora. The area have a diversity of food with unique uses. For example, the black beans tree’s bark fibre was used for fish and animal traps.

The readings have inspired me reintroduced and incorporate these elements in my project.
