Something is toying with the hunters, who are coming up empty handed. Taking a breather from the incessant research to clear their heads, Cas and Dean unwind in interesting ways - yet with the Mark of Cain quietly eating at Dean, his secrets are going to start to come out when the big bads they’re looking for come out to play.

Set in mid-season 10, Dean and Cas have fallen into a relationship that gives them both what they need - connection to each other and distraction from the horrors outside their closed door. The Mark of Cain is taking its toll, yet Dean is holding tight to his humanity. Amidst this backdrop emerges a compelling and engaging story, with elements so plausible I wouldn’t be surprised if we found them revealed in canon as we drive towards the finale.

This fic was written for the SPN Kink Big Bang, yet it delivered well beyond the bedroom as evidenced by the fact that the author created a non-explicit T rated version that stands on its own. That said, the kinky sexy times in the explicit version are played out in spades with Dean and Cas engaging in a full spectrum of bdsm activities with safewords and aftercare included or implied. As the story concludes, the door is left wide open for more entries in this evolving tale.
