the idea for this came from me looking up mandalorian armor color meanings and realizing that scarlet symbolizes resistance. and that lead to me imagining a freshly off kamino fox painting his armor the color of the republic. as he grows and is exposed to all the horrors he keeps the red, not because of the republic, but as a silent ‘fuck u’ to the system hes trapped in.

i just finished episode 4 and it has really just cemented my absolute love for maxwell. I love murph’s incredibly serious rowdy gentleman. i laugh every time they say gentleman fisting. i love everyone pilling on him at every opportunity. hes not immediately starstruck with zood? wheres your whimsy Gotch! they force him on the radio and he tries to be formal and authoritative? Gotch that was too much! he tries to get information about what’s going on with comfrey? Gotch you gave us away! he can do nothing right and that makes him perfect.

I fear that i am the only one on this god forsaken internet that is un normal about these books. I read Hood in like three weeks, then Scarlet in one day and im halfway through Tuck. And lord these books are what ive been dreaming of every time i open a fantasy book. The only other fantasy series that came close for me was The Witcher (also so peak).

Something about the combo of old english mythology and history and the story being rooted in the Robin hood legend makes it addicting. Being able to guess what the general plot points are (because of the legend) but having NO CLUE how Lawhead is going to get there makes these books impossible to put down. Especially because of Lawheads annoyingly captivating way of hiding Bran’s (robin hood) plans from the reader. Lawhead tells us to just wait it out and experience it with the characters and it WORKS every time. Its never confusing and way more engaging than if we had know the plans from the beginning.

The characters are incredibly interesting as well. I find it refreshing how little time we spend in Bran’s head. Lawhead is much more focused on how Bran is changing and experiencing the world around him. For a large portion of the first book Bran is very shallow and stuck up but Lawhead presents these traits in a way that allows us to still root for Bran even if his every action is infuriating.

I was worried about the second book being told from a brand new character’s perspective but I really shouldn’t have. Will scarlet is such a relatable and fun character and his narration is so interesting.

These books do switch pov’s semi regularly (id say every other chapter) to show the reader what is happening outside of Bran’s groups of marauders. I generally enjoy it when books do this but i get it when other people dont. I will say that all of the cut aways to various Barons and Counts are plot important and usually give you some insight into future plot points. They also sometimes inject the reader with VERY important information that Bran and his followers dont know and UGHHH the dramatic irony is beautiful.

Rhi Bran y Hud made me laugh so hard the first time they used it. I felt so stupid for not realizing earlier

lil john is so amazing. i love how everyone loves Tuck. alan a’dale is also great. Will, as previously said is my baby girl.
