After battling for around two years about which golf tour will reign for years to come, there was a rumored merger months ago. Although this merger is still being discussed, the PGA tour accepted a $3 billion dollar investment from an outside investment group. So it makes you wonder. Where and what is happening with this merger?

This is an article about: Saudi Arabia Is Splurging on Sports. Is It Working? I believe it is way too early to tell if it is working. They have invested billions of dollars, where you will not find results for 10 to 15 years. I do believe that in terms of trying to get more tourists and attention to Saudi Arabia is not working greatly as a lot of people just resulted to not watching those teams/players play.

Superstar of the Saudi Pro League, Cristiano Ronaldo scored back to back hattricks in league play and then got benched for their next game in order to rest him for their game against Al-Hilal. Is it bad for Saudi Arabia that the head of their league is way past his prime and in the end of his career?

With the largest golf tournament of the year coming up this weekend, headlines are on players like Akshay Bhatia and Scottie Scheffler. Besides the PGA tour recent winners, Saudi Arabia funded LIV golf superstars are on the top of the media, especially because old PGA tour star Jon Rahm, who won the masters last year, is no a part of LIV golf.

UFC superstar Francis Ngannou and boxing superstar Anthony Joshua put on a boxing bout in Saudi Arabia. It gained a lot of attention with many superstars being in an attendance and a large paycheck for both fighters. Anthony Joshua knocked out Ngannou in the 2nd round, ending a very successful boxing PPV.

Al-Nassr, team of Cristiano Ronaldo, have been trying to get themselves involved in the UEFA Champions League, an all European club tournament. This attempts come from Ronaldo being the greatest player to ever play in the champions league based on almost every stat possible.

Cristiano Ronaldo who is the most famous person on social media in the world, and also currently playing in Saudi Arabia, was suspended for a game due to a "offensive gesture" made after a match. This gesture would usually not cause an issue, yet being in Saudi Arabia, they take what can come off as sexual gestures, are taken very serious.

PGA tour president, met with PIF (public investment fund) in Saudi Arabia to talk about a merger after a 2 year long battle against each other. This has caused a very large uproar amongst the players who are being left in the dark.

PGA tour brings 1.5 billion dollars in investment in response to the disappointment of players who stuck with the PGA tour over the Saudi Arabian PIF funded LIV golf. It is hard to see this ever happening if LIV was never created because of the long standing way of how the tour was run.

The Saudi Arabian national team lost to South Korea in heart breaking fashion. I am curious to see now with all the non saudi arabian's in the saudi soccer league, if this will lower the quality of the national team due to less playing time primarily during the regular year.

Jon Rahm talking about what he misses from the PGA tour. A couple of his favorite events that he is not allowed to participate in have taken a toll on him. The money from the Saudi PIF fund is amazing, but it can't replace the feeling of playing at some of the most iconic courses in the world.

Ambassador Cristiano Ronaldo vouching for saudi pro league over one of the soccer world's best leagues. Interesting how a man making 200 million dollars a year is so adamant about how good this league is..

LIV (which is owned by PIF, a publicly funded organization from Saudi Arabia) has completely changed the future of PGA due to leverage. Players who have stayed loyal to the PGA tour expect more than they ever did after seeing what the players that have moved over to LIV golf have been receiving. It has created a WAR in the golf world.

Now with Saudi money already invested there is almost no turning back. Even with major ethical issues, Saudi money has changed the appearance of sports such as soccer and golf in ways that are irreversible.
