what's a remix fic?

I cannot even begin to apologize for how long it has taken me to get around to answering this ask. I kept saying I would get to it later, which turned into nearly two weeks....ahh I'm so sorry. I know it's late but here's the answer to your question, Nonnie!

Basically, a remix is where you take someone else's fic and change something about it and rewrite the story. You could change the pov, the universe, an event, etc. There are a lot of things you could do to make it a different fic but still have the essence of the original. It's a lot of fun, I have really enjoyed being apart of the @carryonremix events!

Eight minutes left until class is over. Eight minutes until Snow has to turn in his mostly unfinished work. I’m considering telling him directly to just copy my page — weighing what words I could use to make it seem like an insult, but not too much of an insult that he won’t do it. I’m so up in my head imagining potential scenarios that Snow is able to sneak up on me.

I don’t know what he’s doing. All I know is that he’s leaning in close to me, the scent of him overwhelming me, and his fingers are resting on the base of my skull.

Anyone can take part! You’ve still got time to take part!

Go to AO3 and post your fic as normal, BUT also do these things:

Post to Collections / Challenges: Enter ‘CarryOnRemixMadness2021′

Gift this work to: Enter the name of the writer/artist you picked to remix

Tick the box marked ‘This work is a remix, a translation, a podfic, or was inspired by another work’ - insert the link of the work that you’ve remixed

They’re all in the Associations area.

Remix madness!! Still time to write something as cool as this 🥰 which we get to read on Sunday.

It’s another wonderful WIP Wednesday!

I’m trying my hand at a remix for the madness round, which is on Sunday. Remixing is hard, y’all! 😬 I’m even more impressed with everyone’s remixes after having tried one myself! 😅 This is, like, the only snippet I could find that doesn’t immediately give away which fic this is! So here you go:

Baz

“It’s daft, innit?” he says.

“Hmm?” I mumble, trying to fight off sleep. “What is?”

“That we spent so much time fighting, when we could have been doing this.” He squeezes my waist, and lays a kiss on top of my head.

“Well, we’ll just have to make up for lost time then, won’t we?” I turn my head and look up at him. He puts a hand under my chin, and kisses me sweetly. I yawn into his mouth, foolishly not pulling away in time.

He laughs at me again, snuggling me into a better position and pulling the covers up to my shoulders. “We’ll get to all that, eventually. For now, let’s get some sleep.”

Simon’s whole body is pressed into me, his leg draped over mine and his arms wrapped around me. As much as I want to savor this moment, his body heat is keeping me so warm, and he’s so soft and comfy that I don’t think I’ll be able to stay awake much longer. I burrow my head into his neck.

“Goodnight, Simon,” I say, my voice muffled in his skin.

He kisses my head once more. “Goodnight, Baz.”
