HELLO EVERYONE
I appreciate all the support this received while I was planning the event. Truly, I was excited. However my absence and failure to follow through with the event has no excusable reasoning behind such behavior.
As it were, I decided to cancel the entire thing when it came to my attention that someone I personally loathe was interested in it.
Here’s to staying petty. 👍 🍻

Welcome to the Carry On Anti-Fest!
What is it?
The Carry On Anti-Fest has been created as an attempt for writers in the Simon Snow Fandom to be able to challenge themselves. Participants will submit themes, tropes, prompts, etc. that they usually don’t enjoy (not squicks or triggers). As a writer your goal will be to create something that your gift receiver could actually enjoy!
Example:
Submission: I don’t like Watford-Era fics, angst, or time travel fics.
Your goal as the writer is to create an angsty Watford-Era fic involving time travel.
How will I know how to make my fic into something my partner will like?
The second goal of this fest is to meet someone new! Once submissions are made and sent out to writers, your fic receiver will be revealed to you. This fest will not follow the traditional secrecy of exchanges— part of the challenge is trying to know your audience and keep them in mind as you write. You know what they dislike, so now it’s time to learn about the things they do like and how you can use that information to tailor your anti-prompt into something they’ll love. You’re highly encouraged to navigate their tumblr, read their own fic and/or talk with them.
We want this to be fun and challenging for our writers— and hopefully a way to make new fandom friends!
How and when to sign up:
Sign-Ups will open November 27th 2021 and close December 11th 2021. A post with a submission form will be created.
Submissions will be sent to writers between January 3rd 2022 and January 5th 2022.
Posting will be from June 3rd 2022 and June 9th 2022.
After posting we will create a master list of all fics. There will be an Ao3 archive collection to submit to (this will open the day submissions are sent out, that way you are welcome to upload at any point when you finish. Fics will be available to read starting June 3rd).
Share WIPs if you want! This is your creation and we’re excited to see you challenging yourself in this way. We’ll be following the tag #carry on anti fest
Rules and regulations:
In order to make a submission, you are also signing up as a writer.
Fic limitations will be a 500 word minimum and a 10k word maximum.
Do not, under any circumstances, submit your triggers and squicks as prompts. We will provide a space for you to include these as a serious measure for your writer to actually avoid. Submissions should be things that don’t normally interest you, or you know, make you roll your eyes.
On this note, please do not submit things you love and enjoy. This is meant to be a challenge and exercise.
NSFW is welcome. There will be an option on the submission form to signal if you are ok with receiving and/or writing NSFW material. These options are to be taken seriously by writers in the same vein as triggers/squicks. If the prompt you receive has NSFW marked, this should not be taken as an invitation to write NSFW in an attempt to change someone’s mind. Squicks, triggers and NSFW choices should absolutely be respected by the writer.
For simplicity sake, NSFW means potentially sexually explicit content. For this reason, minors are exempt from NSFW.
Please contact the mods via DM on this blog, ask, or through our email at [email protected] for any questions or concerns.
We hope you’ll sign up!
