i do insurance - this is a real human being here, my autism demands I made stupid jokes about my niche subject job. Contact me with questions about (American) car insurance and I’ll answer to the best of my ability. I also file for houses during storm season but I’m not as good at those.

Im not autistic about cars or makes or models but I AM autistic about crumple points and field of vision and blindspots and conflict points. do you understand. urban design, anti car dependency/anti car centric infrastructure, and so cars themselves are part of that interest. because car design is urban design. cybertrucks SUCK as cars and also dont function well in infrastructure thats designed to care about people. there are good cars and vehicles that are designed good and fit well with good urban design

So, a collab between me and two of my friends, one from an agency and one from the injury department:
Pokemon and insurance. A lot of Pokemon have human level intelligence. Could they hold policies or be a household member on trainer auto/household policies?
Can they call in their own claims? Character's like N (BW/BW2) or anime Team Rocket's Meowth could act as interpreters for Pokemon that can understand but can't speak the human languages.
To my insurance mutuals: feel free to add stuff!

Okay, so: imagine.
Imagine:
Mary: Thank you for calling PokeFirst Insurance, my name is Mary! May I ask who I’m speaking with? Meowth: Hey there, dis is Meowth speakin' from from the interpreter department, ID number 123456. I'm here translatin' for your customer Bulbasaur here. His trainer is out gettin' some supplies and he's callin' in to file a claim for the storm that came through Kanto last night. Mary: Hurricane Arcanine? Sure, happy to help! Hello Bulbasaur, please be aware this call may be monitored for quality assurance and educational purposes. Are you registered as a household member? Bulbasaur: Bulba bulb! Saur... Meowth: "Yes, I've been a member of the household ever since I hatched from an egg. My trainer explained how insurance works to me yesterday." Mary: Ah, yes, I see you here. Can you verify your Date of Hatching for me? Bulbasaur: Bulb bulb, bulb bulb, Bulbasaur. Meowth: "MM/DD/YYYY". Mary: Alright, let's continue. Is everyone okay? Bulbasaur: Bulb bulb... Bulba! Saur... Meowth: "Yeah, we're all safe but the yard and shed are trashed. My poor nest..." Mary: Aw, I'm sorry. I'm really glad everyone is okay, though! I know it's a setback but at the end of the day, these are just things. And I see here you've got coverage for landscaping and detached structures! Your deductible is [number]. Bulbasaur: Bulba! Meowth: "Oh, that's a relief. I wasn't sure on account of the fact that I comprehend human speech better than human writing. And that deductible sounds really reasonable compared to what my trainer told me it would likely cost to get all of this repaired." Mary: Oh, I'm happy to look over the policy and read things to you. Bulbasaur: Bulb! Meowth: "Appreciate that. Alright, so it started about 4 pm yesterday..." -the claim proceeds from here-

#meowth would be interesting in that he'd likely be a one-way interpreter since a lot of pokemon can understand human languages#but can't speak them#i've been obsessed with this idea for two days

Alright we run in different companies then (glad to bridge the cap and cooperate together!) since we service all 50 (but don't write in MA these days fuck MA).
NY/NJ are sooooooorta like MI. MI has blanket No Fault aka both property damage AND injuries whereas all the other 'No Fault' states like FL/MD/etc are ONLY for injuries. As a result any time the words "No Fault" come out of anyone's mouth outside of MI, I am already irritated because "no that's just INJURIES we can handle the CARS please for the love of god cooperate with me!!!"
so here's the million dollar question: would big superhero battles be logged as catastrophes for insurance purposes the way hurricanes and hailstorms are?
Oh absolutely lol but I think it’d be funny to see how they try to get binding restrictions on them since it’s not like we know about them in advance…I’d even think a lot of carriers would have them as exclusions/optional endorsements on property policies the way flood/earthquake often is. Absolute hell world for insurance reps imo 🫠

I'm sorry I can't remember who on my dash said they were going to have a ton of spoiled food because of the hurricane.
If you have any kind of home insurance (owner or renter) there is likely a clause to cover spoiled food in the event of a power outage or disaster. It's generally between $200 and $500 and often no questions asked about the food itself. But you do have to call them and request it.
If you know anyone who's having this trouble please tag them in on this.
