you’d be surprised how many people appreciate your existence. the people you’re closest to, the people you’ve given a passing compliment or smile, the people you’ve helped out just a little here and there. you’re appreciated even if it’s not said out loud.

I just want to remind you that sometimes your life really doesn't begin until you are 26+... Romanticizing and obsessing over our youth is harmful. Growing up is beautiful. Discovering who you are and how you interact with the world is a gift. Maturing and learning what you truly want out of life and living in that purpose brings fulfillment and peace. Your life is not over in your early 20's because you haven't figured it out yet, it's just beginning.

you see there's nuance between the generic valentine's day hater (is single and distressed by this, unaware of what amatonormativity is, resents the holiday for making them confront their perceived lack of worth, spends the day miserable) and the enlightened valentine's day hater (probably arospec, knows what amatonormativity is, sees the holiday as an opportunity to raise awareness and community, spends the day in joyous defiance)

One of my favorite parts of life is adopting new personality traits. Last month I decided to become a person who reads in the morning and goes to the library. This month I'm becoming a person who eats oatmeal and loves linen clothes. If you see something in other people that you like, you can just try it on.

I can’t express how important it is to have hobbies in your 20s. To have something you enjoy and look forward to after long work days, tough conversations, and pressures in the real world. You need something to pour into like you’re a child again. The world is expectant, in a rush, focused on outcome. But with a hobby, you can take your time, make it your own, show it to no one, be bad at it, and do it for pure enjoyment without worrying how it will turn out. We desperately need the space to experiment without emphasis on the final product. We need emphasis on the process. Hobbies can teach us how to get back to that space.

i hope february is kind to you. i hope it's a balm to the horrors that was january. i hope it embraces you in a warmth that feels like a warm blanket on a cold dark day. i hope it brings you love and bliss.

"If I were orpheus I wouldn't look back"
But we look back everyday- rechecking emails, making sure a friend is still behind you, checking to see if you remebered to pick up your keys. It's second nature, a habit of care.
It was second nature for him too. He looked back, not out of weakness, but love. For what is love, if not to look back?

you can start anytime.
you can brush your teeth in the middle of the day. you can wash the dishes at 2am. you can do things outside the normal times assigned by society.
