Remember, witchcraft doesn't have to be expensive. Go to the dollar store and buy a plastic hand mirror. Paint it black and use resin or clear shiny nail polish to make it reflective and scry away.

Regular Garden Sage from the grocery store if I don't have a dried lavender bundle. 💜
Question of the day: what is your preferred method of cleansing?
My coven was having a discussion on cleansing, banishing, and protection and this led to us discussing the controversies surrounding white sage and palo santo. When I first began my practice, I received both as gifts and used them. Then I learned about the closed practices they belong to and also that white sage is endangered and I no longer felt comfortable using them for cleansing.
I’ve always preferred smoke cleansing so if that’s your go-to method, let me know what you use!

I've been wanting to embroider so that I can make my own tarot cloth/alter cloth. I'm not sure what I'll put on it yet, but I have lots of scrap fabric and trimming I can use!

Lately, I've been feeling the need to knit, sew, learn to embroider, and learn blacksmithing. I've also wanted to make stews, curries, and soups, along with being more sustainable and leaving less waste. Idk, I just kinda want to nest in my home and take care of it and the people I love who live there.

Let's normalize budget witchcraft.
Cool places you can get tools are
Dollar stores
Thrifts shops
Antique stores
Second hand shops
Yard sales
A park
Old clothes
You can build what your practice looks like slowly and in your own unique way.

Witchblr I have another question: How do you know if a diety is reaching out to you? I have always felt drawn to the moon and even had full conversations with them. Monday night I couldn't sleep and had put the intention of sleeping I had a bunch of energy. Last night I was super tired for whatever reason. This morning I saw a spider on my bathroom wall as I was getting ready for work. Any ideas if it's just coincidence, someone or something reaching out, or a diety?

To all you Green Witches and Kitchen Witches that don't have a garden and want to start one here ys go!
So. You want to garden.
For whatever reason. Right now as of uhhhh Friday March 27, of 2020, within the quarantine of COVID-19 you are most likely want to garden in order to feed your family as you want to save money from the grocery store. And to ya know. feed your family.
SO. Here’s some YouTube videos. Mainly from this one YouTuber since she runs her own farm. She talks about what to grow and how to grow as well as saving seeds. (Trust me, saving seeds is better in the long run.) You can also regrow kitchen scraps too if you feel like you’re unable to get any proper seeds. And for fun have a post apocalyptic type garden.

🔮How I Write A Spell🔮
What Is The Point Of This Spell?: First, figure out what sort of spell you want to do. What is its purpose? What kind of spell is it? A glamour, for example. Might be the sort of spell you decide on. It may seem obvious, but remember to write this stuff down! I usually write these questions down and keep the whole spell making process recorded in my grimoire.  This is my own personal advice, but something I’ve learned is to consider if there’s another way you can accomplish whatever the purpose of the spell is without magick. I think of spells as last resorts to certain things, or as a booster shot of luck or confidence ect. But that’s just me. The Timing: When will I do this spell? This could be based off of the day of the week/time of day and moon cycle. Astrology stuff if you’re into that. I also like to do big spells on the Sabbats so if you celebrate them, you might try that. How Might I Prepare?: Will this spell have certain crystals, herbs, chants, sigils, what do you need to do and collect? Remember to research any ingredients used. Especially if its a big, or important spell to you. To me, research is just more intent! Here’s a compact list of some things a spell might involve as well, you might go through and decide what works and what doesn’t. This certainly isn’t everything you might put in a spell but it might help you narrow a few things down: - Colors used - Jars/Sachets - Sigils - Crystals - Herbs & Spices - Candles - Incense - Essential oils - Forms of divination, such as tarot, runes, or a pendulum - Knots - Chants - Magick waters, such as moon water What Will The Steps Be?:  if you know you want to do a glamour, once again as the example, and you want to involve candles, think about what that will actually look like. Tips & Reminders: - Cleanse yourself, the space, and anything used. - Ground yourself.  - Cast a circle, if you feel that’s necessary. You don’t have to though! - Set the mood. Do a spell past dark, light some candles, take a nice, long, hot, cleansing bath ahead of time. Drink some tea. Do some self care, or something that makes you feel as witchy as ever.  - If something feels right, using this ingredient over that, a certain time of day, or anything like that. Do it! This is your practice.  - If you’re not sure what to do, or what a spell should even look like, have a look at other similar spells. Before you even start writing your own, you might just substitute a few things because you lack ingredients or prefer something else from spells you’ve found.  - Wards are always a good idea - If sigil burning, or fire of any sort is involved. Be safe! keep some water nearby, do it on a fire safe surface, keep in mind how you’re going to keep this contained if something goes wrong.  Enjoy and have a lovely day 💖

what to put in your grimoire:
Tumblr media
Obviously, you don’t have to include all of these ideas in your grimoire: they are merely ideas, prompts and inspiration for your own research and documentation. Similarly, this list is not exhaustive and there may be other things you want to include in your grimoire.
This is in no particular order, you may wish to organise your grimoire into sections; but I personally don’t overthink the structure of my grimoire and I just make sure I have a good contents page.
You may also want to include things such as print outs, post cards, your own drawings and sketches, paintings, and decorations. Some people add extra pages or cut outs, flaps and envelopes. what you include is up to you and dependent on what you desire from your grimoire. If you are using a notebook, I would recommend sticking an envelope on the back page so you can keep any small or lose pages in it.
So, here are some suggestions for things to put in your grimoire:
a contents page (this is important to organise your information for future reference)
information on any witchy festivals that you celebrate. For instance, when are they, what are their origins, how are they celebrated, their correspondences and associations
information on the moon phases. What are the moon phases, an almanac for the moon phases for the upcoming year, what associations and correspondences are associated with each moon phase, what types of magic are suited to each moon phase
colour correspondences
information on the elements. What are the elements, what are their associations and correspondences
a record of your sigils, runes and symbols. Draw them out and note their purpose
a record of the spells that you have done. What are the ingredients and methods of the spell, why did you do it, how did you do it, when did you do it, what were the results and effects, what changes would you make next time
similarly, a record of any rituals that you have done
information on witchy plants that you would like to grow
an entry for each witchy festival celebrated. How did you celebrate it, did you do any further research, are there things you would like to do to celebrate it next time
information on all the crystals that you own. What are they, what do they look like, what are their uses and associations, what have you used them for
practical information you have researched, such as how to create sigils, charge, activate and use them. Other examples include fire safety
a directory for any herbs and plants that you use in your craft. What do they look like, in what conditions do they grow, what are their uses and correspondences, what do you use them for
a sketch or photograph of your altar or work space with labels explaining the layout
information on tarot references
information on any witchy DIYs you’ve done. What did you create, how did you create them, why did you create them, what purpose do they serve, how do they work, how did they turn out
a record of any witchy recipes you make. What is the recipe, what is the recipe good for, is it for a specific witchy festival
specific references for themes that you use a lot. For instance, items for bringing calm (crystals, plants, colours, scents…)
information on folklore, historical accounts, or anthropology that you have researched. Such as the history of witches where you live, or the folklore of a particular time period you are interested in. Examples I have include Selkies, geographical features in Western Scotland, and Scottish Fair Folk
information on divination techniques that you are interested in using, such as palmistry, pendulums and shufflemancy
recipes for things you have made such as bath soaks and tea blends. What is in them, why have you used those particular ingredients, are they effective
information on aspects of magic that are specific to you. For instance, I have information on how to conserve energy in witchcraft
research on deities, pantheons, spirits, or the fair folk that you would like to work with. What are they known as, when were they first known in the historical record, what are their origins, what folk lore is associated with them, why would you like to work with them, what or where are they associated with, what are their patronages
information on ways to create spells and types of spells. Which of these suit you and how can you make a spell creation method which is unique to you
information on magic using a specific ingredient or method. Such as spell jars, water magic, hair magic…
information on your astrological chart
traditions and superstitions that are common in your family or community
an index at the back for specific ingredients and themes. Such as where specific crystals, herbs, festivals, or moon phases have been mentioned
