I get this question a lot and I don’t think this answers it at all, so—I guess you could say it’s like… a really confusing situationship.)

So here he is:

The first drawing would be his sprite in game and the second is callivalia whispering delusions into his head lol

DESIGN NOTES

He's entirely made of stone apart from his ribcage and spine

The flame is from hephestus' forge and is what keeps him alive

The tattoo on his arm wad given to him by hephestus

BACKSTORY

He was originally just a statue made by an unknown sculptor

Some belive him to be the son of said sculptor but it is not a fact

One day when the sculptor was away an earthquake managed to destroy the state beyond repair

The sculptor was devastated and begged for hephestus to fix him

For once the gods actually listened and hephestus used an ember from his forge to fix the statue

However as always their was a price

And now my oc has to serve hephestus for the rest of time

I used today’s prompt as an opportunity to draw @callimara’s ancient Greek god OC Callivalia. I love her design so much but oh my god she was so hard to draw.

What's the name etymology of "Calvalia"?

The name is inspired by the Latin name of lily of the valley, Convallia majalis! Essentially I am writing it retroactively as though the flower is named after her 💕)

Some versions also claim that Calvalia had been the one to curse the kingdom of Atlantis to sink beneath the waves in vengeance.

The Myth of the Lily of the Valley

It is said that a beautiful princess named Calvalia from a lost kingdom in the east (once known as Atlantis) drank a tonic of this poisonous flower to escape an arranged marriage. Moved by the lengths she went to find escape, the West Wind Zephyrus resurrected her as one of his kin and brought her with him to Mt. Haemus. It is believed that where her tears fall, a lily of the valley sprouts in its place. Thus, the delicate white blooms began to thrive in the lands of Ancient Greece.

These flowers would catch the attention of the God Apollo, who was intrigued by their unique appearance and medicinal qualities. Following a trail of them led him to the weeping anemoi, whom he comforted with a song. They formed a bond as they sang together, and having won her trust and affection, she pledged her loyalty to serve him on Mt. Olympus. His fondness for her flowers, the lily of the valley, would also earn it the name “Apollinaris.”
