tis unfortunate truly the missed opportunities, the unrealized potential...i really was waiting for the crows to be more hashtag problematic and it just didn't happen (all of the factions were watered down and sanitized, as much of the game was. anyway). but imagine the conflict a shadow dragon rook could have more personally with the crows. they could have done so much ACTUAL grey morality or whatever as opposed to their biggest issue being sexy paid killers when all of characters kill baddies by the handful in typical video game fashion. i liked being able to argue with companions in past games, and also being able to play a character with actual moral choices that could vary. roleplay you might say. in an rpg

it could have set higher stakes in dealing with the different groups/gaining support. act 2 was very not-subtle about it being companion quest time, but exploring differences between the groups instead of only handing out bandaids could have padded things out in a satisfying way. make us struggle to become a united force, set actual stakes!! coordinating allies and helping people...and dont blanket destroy the south.... would have been good opportunity 2 talk more about that.

also missed opportunity to lean into lucanis' personal quests/issues. its clear he has an issue with feeling trapped and doesn't want the responsibility of first talon. but what if his conflict went further? what if he could only realize now just how much of his life he had actually spent trapped, not just in the ossuary? what if the ossuary had been a reprieve while also being miserable? the conflict, the drama ... in my head my shadow dragon ex-enslaved rook helps him unpack all that. and davrin could have shared his feelings about needing to carve his own path, and then they could talk about how they had never really planned their own futures because they always expected to kick it. it could be cute and heartfelt.
