Eloise and Penelope
Eloise: You lied to me and betrayed me by writing about me in your sheet.
Penelope, crying: No I didn't you're just reading too much Whistledown. Ok I did but I only backstabbed you to protect you. You're just jealous because I did something and you didn't!
Eloise and Cressida
Eloise: What you did to Penelope was unnecessary and cruel and you are very often unkind.
Cressida: You're correct, I'm often unkind and my unkindness has had an impact on my life and I can see how my own behaviour has influenced my unhappiness. At the same time I can see how our toxic society has poorly influenced my behaviour, which doesn't exculpate me of wrongdoing but does inform my actions and gives me some clarity.
Also Eloise and Penelope
Penelope chooses to gossip about others, careless of the hurt it will cause them, and publishes painful secrets about people who trust her for public consumption
Penelope: I did something GREAT and you're just jealous!
Eloise accidentally lets gossip slip about a person who intentionally published gossip about her, her family and many others, while she's still reeling from her new information.
Eloise: I apologise for letting the gossip get out, it was done unintentionally. I still no longer wish to be your friend but I wish you no ill and I hope you find happiness elsewhere.
Yeah, there's a reason why I pick Creloise over Peneloise any day.

This.
Jokes aside, it’s odd for me to see people swearing up and down that Colin needs to beg and grovel and earn Penelope back because up until that conversation she overhead he hadn’t treated her badly. He danced with her, he defended her, he returned all her letters, and he bailed her family out when he thought they were being taken advantage of.
He treated her like a friend. Yeah, no one wants to hear that a crush doesn’t see them as an option romantically, but someone treating you like a good friend when you want more isn’t bullying. It’s life.

In light of Bridgerton season 3, this really resonates with me. It's literally why I will never support Penelope or Polin. I would not wish for Penelope to be miserable or alone, but I do not like that the writers are allowing her to get what she wants (COLIN) after everything she has done without any ounce of remorse or redemption.
Penelope:
Betrayed the trust of those closest to her including friends, namely Eloise and Marina, and her own family
Nearly ruined/ruined multiple people's reputations out of jealousy (Daphne & Marina)
Straight up attacked people who never had a bad word to say about her (Kate, Edwina, Anthony, Daphne)
Nearly ruined her own family's reputation
Nearly destroyed the Bridgerton's reputation
If she truly had Eloise's best interests at heart THERE WERE OTHER WAYS TO GET HER OFF QUEEN CHARLOTTE'S SUSPECT LIST. Eloise wasn't out in season 1, she wasn't present for most of the events Lady Whistledown described. Tell the Queen directly about Theo as she loves a love story. Or you know reveal herself. But no protecting her secret identity took priority.
Destroyed an actual working woman's business (the seamstress from last season) for personal gain (to get Genevieve Delacroix on side after she discovered her lady whistledown secret)
Her comments about George III's mental health are shall we say yikes in qc
The way she handled the Marina and Colin situation. If she truly had Colins best interests at heart, she could've told him or Eloise directly or through another anonymous means. By publishing it, she nearly destroyed her own family's and colins reputation, and trapped Marina in a marriage that if it goes anything like the book will kill her.
But Eloise is the villain for being a young woman and pettily starting a duo with her ex best friend's enemy after learning about the above? Yeah nah.

Chapter 7: Caterpillar in the River

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scene Excerpt
A horn. He hears it, low, in the icy depths of the ocean as he sits on his throne watching his people – his children, flourishing, thriving, living happily. He is disheartened, knowing what he sacrifices to protect them, ensure their safety, their loyalty. Time with his lady, his love – his family.
"Never leave me.”
He always did. Before the rise of the sun, he was gone, always considering their people; the reciprocal hate between Wakanda and Talokan.
“It could have been different.” – he is haunted. Resentful.
Had he not been demanding. Had they not been at odds. Had they not killed his people. Had he not flooded their city or killed her mom. Had they not gone to war.... He would not be forced to hide his love for Shuri.
But the past could not be undone.
He was at fault for the hostile sentiments that now existed between their nations. Though they were allies, they had not forgiven. He could not be impudent or selfish. They might rebel. He had to be discreet, not draw attention to his feelings. He had to protect his family.
He grips his seat. Time wasting. Pondering his next action. Resentment building. He is conflicted. He has given them everything. Why couldn't he have what he wanted when all he wants is…
Namora approaches, bowing to her deity, K'uk'ulkan, her king and protector. His thoughts are disrupted. Líik'ik Talokan, she reverently gestures. He returns it with a nod, giving her his undivided attention. She looks upon his eyes. Melancholy. She worries for her cousin.
*IN YUCATEC MAYA*
“You have been summoned, K'uk'ulkan.”
He slowly floats towards Namora. Surly he had heard. She does not understand his hesitation, why he has not gone. “K'uk'ulkan, do you think something has happened,” she questions, concerned; genuinely. “It has only been three days since the council. We have seen nothing. No mining, no invasion. Should we ready our army?”
“No,” he gently relieves, cradling her cheek in the palm of his hand. “Our army should not be readied. I will go, hear what they wish to discuss.” He smiles. “I will return shortly.”
Then he is gone, swimming to be with her. The woman, the Black Panther, the human from the surface world, leaving his people alone. Abandoned. Namora knows in her heart and cannot stand it. K'uk'ulkan yielding, submitting, pining for one of them; his infatuation with the princess.
Poison; a thorn. Namora scorns.

“Namor doesn’t feel remorse for killing her mom”
I don’t know, think your own thoughts have your own feelings BUT this is just my perspective:
If I recall, Namor and Shuri bonded over their mutual trauma in this film. Namor more than understands what Shuri is going through. He absolutely feels for shuri.
I don’t even feel like he mocked her after her mother’s death. Nothing in his tone felt that way. It felt like he was just amplifying the harsh reality and for her to be prepared to take on responsibilities for her people.
It was also him reiterating what he had been saying the whole film, “I’m not fucking around. Either form the alliance or your people will continue to die.”
I even felt some pain, because of what was established beforehand and even after. Namor loved his mother. The pain his mother faced and shared with him, the loss of his mother, then later seeing his people enslaved, amplifying his mother’s pain and why they had to flee to the water, shaped him. A lot of his identity is formed around her. Then there’s the way he talks to shuri about losing the ones you love, there is no way he doesn’t understand or empathize with shuri.
Namor wanted the alliance. I don’t think he wanted to hurt shuri like this, or hurt wakanda. Especially, if they could benefit each other. But wakanda was just not getting it, and unfortunately here they are. Look at the way he holds that shell phone. I really think he was hoping shuri was ready to form the alliance.
HOWEVER, Namor obviously cares more about his people. As he should. He is their god, their king. His people have suffered through too much, he has experienced too much. He views them as his children. (Ramonda had his children killed.)
Again, that’s not wrong of him. In fact, shuri learns this in the end. She puts aside what she feels and wants for her people.
So I just don’t get the whole, “he has no remorse and he was mocking her.” We understand and empathize with namor’s character. We know why he did what he did. Shuri knows why he did what he did. I do believe he feels for shuri, but again, he puts his people first, and I don’t think he’s wrong for that.
Edit: it’s not even really about feeling remorse, even tho I do believe he does feel for shuri. It’s about their people. So using this as an excuse for why they shouldn’t be together just doesn’t click for me. They’re monarchs and heroes. Personal feelings have to be pushed aside, but they do exist. We can infer it and feel it.

Chapter 6: Kindred Spirits
Rated: Explicit
Wakanda & Talokan Council Meeting Wardrobes.
Shuri, Namor, Namora, and Attuma’s outfits.
Tumblr media
Scene Excerpt:
There is silence except for a loud, “Welcome, K'uk'ulkan, and guests! Please…” M’Baku gestures to the seat across from the throne that was added to the council meeting just for Namor. “Let us begin.”
Namor sits, the beautiful red fabrics of his armor spreading about. Shuri had only seen him dressed similarly when they talked in the cavern, but never like the magnificent king he is. He is handsome, she thinks, admiring the prints, gold, jewels, and feathers, everything really. Everything about him.
“Thank you for welcoming us to your home,” Namor graciously says.
The elders shift uncomfortably in their seats as eyes dart around the room, speaking quietly.
Namora and Attuma glance at each other from their peripherals. Okoye and Nakia do the same before looking at Shuri who keeps her eyes steady on Namor not wanting their sympathy.
“I know that our last visit was under very different circumstances,” he continues, his gaze on Shuri, then M’Baku for neutrality. “It is unfortunate that there was a misunderstanding pertaining to the princess’ stay in Talokan, that my people’s lives were taken as a result, and that I retaliated by flooding your capitol, and killing your Queen.”
It lingers. Dense in the air, his words. It was not an apology, or an excuse. It was simply the very uncomfortable truth everyone had to contend with.
“Wakanda and Talokan have both lost people that were loved in a war that was not between us. Although the past cannot be undone, we hope to move forward and fight our common enemies as allies.”
M’Baku nods and breaks the ice.

Scene Excerpt Below
An hour gone by, sitting in front of the fire, the flames high. Her heart skips as Namor ascends from the cold waters, his wing healed, swimming in the sky.
Shuri sadly smiles, gripping the blanket on her shoulders, remembering their fight.
Impaled. The pain steering pain and thoughts of rage. Her will to live, and see him beg.“What I want is Namor dead!” She pulled her body off of the spear, shards of wood splintering through her intestines.
His feet on the wet surface of the riverbanks, wings fluttering. Shuri looks to him as he tentatively approaches.
Memories. So many. Sweltering in the desert sun. “It could’ve been different.” Namor stumbling, drying, dying. Shuri leading an attack against Talokan.
Hurting.
He had thought their souls were identical, that breaking her like he had been broken would force her to see the truth about the surface and endless cycle of exploitation. It had, only he was on the receiving end of her hatred.
You are queen now.” – a warm breeze flows between them.
His decision to avenge Abha and Xelha had led him to break the woman with whom he had once shared intimacy, who looked at him with admiration, understanding and empathy – he had unintentionally made her his enemy, and in her grief, she had become the Black Panther, a vengeful goddess, ready to destroy him unless he destroy her first.
He sees her tear-streaked cheeks in the firelight as she lays her blanket on the sand, standing to greet him. Her hands crossing over her chest in an x. She is wearing his mother's bracelet on her wrist.
His heart warms, proud, hopeful she will keep it, but uncertainty of her feelings ground him as he returns her greeting with his own, Líik'ik Talokan.
“Princess…” he gently speaks “Yield.” Her words forever in his ear. “I spared your life in the desert when you wouldn’t have done the same for me.”
Her sentiments only partly true. If she knew...
“I see you,” his eyes staring into her soul… their hands exploring….
“Shuri,” she says her name, almost a whisper, closing the distance, holding his hands in hers, placing them on her tiny bump – their baby.
Namor presses his forehead to Shuri’s. They breathe heavily, panting, yearning, starving for the other. Her lips wanting, hands roaming.
“…you… do not know love.”
His heart aching. “Shuri,” he moans, her lips brushing his. Touching.
“I love you, too, Namor,” she confesses – the wind singing.
Two souls colliding. Kisses, soft and gentle; consuming. Shuri’s body firmly against his. Namor’s hands on her stomach, sides – her breasts. Groping.
Her fingers tangle in his hair, his hands knead her ass. Bast. She moans into his ear, lusty, lovingly. “I want you.”

Fandom: Black Panther (Marvel Movies) Rating: Explicit Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Namor of Talokan & Shuri
What if Namor & Shuri had done more than talk in Talokan? What if they had formed an indestructible bond? What would Namor and Shuri do to protect their nations and each other when threatened by common enemies?
Would they burn the world together? Or save it?
SNEAK PEAK
“I… I cannot explain it, but… I feel as if I have known you for a lifetime, as if our spirits are kindred,” she whispers placing one hand on his heart as the other caresses the nape of the serpent god’s neck, stroking the soft brown tresses of hair there, still wet. Shuri nervously smiles, her eyes frightened, but hopeful. “I see you, Namor.”

When Namor presented the bracelet to Shuri, he told her
You are the first person from the surface to come to Talokan. Please take this as a token of our gratitude.
just as the shaman once said to his mother,
Your baby will be the first to be born in our new home. Take this gift as a promise that he will be our new king.
He not only tied his mother’s bracelet on her wrist, he also tied their fates together.
The Talokanil king and the Wakandan princess.
The child without love and the child who scoffs at tradition.
The artist and the scientist.
The Feathered Serpent and the Black Panther.
