At the Washington Bridge Park

There is a peak, a staircase that leads up to a perch where you can see the Hudson and the Bridge. Just as sunset hits that bright, the glow of the lights, the glint off the water...

That use to be a spot as a kid I could never get enough of. My little part of the world in the 170s streets. 

I went back there maybe a week or so ago and realized I hadn’t stepped back to my neighborhood since I started school and left Harlem. I realized that I left the shadow of that little girl who would hang off the bars of this spot and try to see as far as the sunset would stretch. 

I left this home, my nest, and found it withered and abandoned but somewhat still...liveable and filled with pretty little memories. Of a time, I didn’t know how to fly.

You were the water

Clear as day

A thousand personifications and metaphors

Your body was a movement

Your eyes were the sea

And in your heart were tides that drew me in closer

As I parked a spot by your shores

Each day I grew a bit closer

Each moment I awed at your majesty

I would count the waves as they rolled in

And smile as they tickled my feet

You were a body of water

With a storm forming far beyond where my eyes could reach

I found myself falling into the tides

I found myself falling past your beach

I found myself in the place of Ophelia

Floating along your surface

Away from the mourning shores

The tides were unkind to my innocent mind

But at least I could say while I was alive

As someone who was abused by exes and yes one of them was a female

I dare you to tell me it was my fault bc I loved the people I dated. We drag down men, drag down women. Drag down anyone who is fucking terrible. It’s not a gender thing, it’s morals.

So do what you do best, run this bitch down.

What it would take for me to consider it: 

Billy getting help and actually being remorseful.  Steve genuinely building friendship or some sort of positive healthy comradery with Billy. Love doesn’t take away that sort of shit. Jonathan and Steve went at it and even with the ‘closure’ they got I can’t ship it, personally.  Steve pulled that ‘whore’ thing on Nancy which to me is fucking harassment on someone who is suppose to be your lover. 

Steve swung at Billy, Billy basically destroyed Steve’s face. I’m going to need about 9 episodes of constant therapeutic trust building here.  Like, I feel for Billy to some extent, clearly his homelife has not been great and its been going on for a long time. This new family is probably a trigger but that’s just my two cents as a psych major and that doesn’t make what he did right. 

  like anyone else he has to pay for his actions or repay or whatever. I don’t want this ship to be enemies to lovers in the worse way, there are better tropes and more in depth nuances to everything. Healing and friendship and healthy ways of someone actually redeeming themselves (if that’s where the story even wants to go for all we know.

Nightmare scenario: Billy shows how a victim turns into an abuser and he’s the bad guy we’re all dehumanized about his situation because he gets no growth (or he becomes the big bad) and fandom ships him with Steve for the “hot” lols.

I wish dates didn’t have such strong romantic attachment to them.

Like, I wish I could go up to a friend of mine and be like, “Hey I want to take you to a nice restaurant. Let’s get dressed up fancy and go.”
