In the Early Modern Era, the first European to reach the cape was the Portuguese explorer #Bartolomeu Dias on 12 March 1488. It was later named as "Cape of Good Hope" (Cabo da Boa Esperança) because of the great optimism engendered by the opening of a sea route to India and the East and adding a special significance to sailors.

Bartolomeu is aged in a Brazilian subtropical native wood called Pterogyne Nitens. The result is the creation of a balanced #drink with an unforgettable flavor. The name Pterogyne comes from the Greek pteron = wing and gyne known as the female part able to reproduce. Native from Brazil and distributed in the jungles, tree can reach 25 meters in height and up to one meter in diameter, pioneering in sandy soils it has a medium-thick crust, grayish brown, smooth and the leaves are composed, alternating, with opposing full-leaf, semi-persistent leaflets. The fruit is a smara with rigid reddish-brown, shiny wings, containing a longitudinal seed of the same color. #nature
