Stickers seen around NYC in the days after cops opened fire in the NYC subway, shooting a fellow officer, two bystanders, and an alleged "fair evader" they were attempting to apprehend.

I feel like town lore of Gravity Falls is severely under appreciated
You have an entire town who wants to Forget. There is a secret society dedicated to forgetting small disturbances and inconveniences. They can’t handle the burden of Remembering.
But then, a catastrophe so massive it almost destroyed them occurs, and rather than erase it from their minds, they choose to remember. Do they know all the details? No, but ask a question, dare to breathe even a word, and you’re threatened with violence. The police are instructed to uphold the silence. They go about the rest of their lives wondering if it was real or a nightmare.
It gives me a similar sense of dread as The Lottery
