so i didn’t think i’d be making a post like this so soon on this new blog.

i went to visit my friend’s island and my ex-best friend/abuser showed up to the island uninvited while i was there. i’m not certain she realized it was me since i don’t use my real name on ac, but my friend apologized profusely for her being there uninvited and i told her it wasn’t her fault because it wasn’t. i also told her it was fine but it was not.

i still have anxiety dreams about my ex-friend hunting me down so it sent panic through me to have her near me in any way.

the last time i contacted her was through a letter saying that in one of the hardest times of my life, she did nothing but tear me down and make my life worse and that i don’t expect her to apologize for it. i didn’t put a return address on it since she had other ways of possibly contacting me. she did not, and unfriended me on everything i hadn’t already blocked her on.

there’s still a part of me that’s hurt. we were friends for 16 years. so i still have ways to go in terms of moving forward.

I needed this reminder today, so I'm posting it in case anyone else needs it, too.

Animal Crossing is not a competition.

Just because other people might be further along than you doesn't mean you're failing the game or your villagers or doing a bad job. It's okay to not have Blathers on your second day of playing. It's okay if you haven't been to the deserted islands yet. It's okay if you haven't gotten past the flimsy tools. Everyone works at their own pace and you don't need to be so hard on yourself.

Animal Crossing is meant to be relaxing. If you're stressed about it, it might be good to step away for a bit.
