Grief
It's okay. Really, it's okay. I've done this before. The wound is made, the cut is drawn. And now it's just there forever. I'll cry, and that will help. I'll remember what I've lost with fondness, and that will help too. First the minutes will pass, and then the hours. My hurt will not stop the world turning. The sun will set and it will rise again, just like it did today. Just like before you were gone. And that will keep happening. I'll keep hurting, the world will keep turning and the sun will keep setting and rising again. And that's just the way that grief works. Cuts don't scab. Time doesn't heal. We just learn how to walk while wounded.

What do you say when it’s all gone away? “Baby, I didn’t mean to hurt you”? Truth spoke in whispers can tear you apart, no matter how hard you resist it. It never rains when you want it to… You humble me, Lord.

I smelt it first, the heat on the tracks, The metallic sting in my nostrils, The burning away of polished steel, I could smell the whistle weeping. The feeling came later: the vulnerability, The power of things I did not know The approach of something, something, something... I could feel the whistle weeping. And then the taste of stale air Of rotten things and smoke and mould, Of waste and blood and dirt and old I could taste the whistle weeping. Then the silence broke, and words unspoke Were said and I understood. My senses made sense, my train had come, I finally heard the whistle weeping. And I see the wreckage of what came that day, The power of what, now, I know: Of betrayal and sorrow, of anger and hurt. I can see the whistle weeping. I weep with it.

Me: *has a throbbing headache*
Me: Why do I have a headache?? It feels like dehydration, but I drank so much today! It makes no sense!!
My brain: That was wine. All of what you drank today was wine.

There's still one thing that lurks in my mind Its nothing here, nothing I've left behind Its something upfront, something I hope to find I'm going to set sail again tonight

We need people in our lives with whom we can be as open as possible. To have real conversations with people may seem like such a simple, obvious suggestion, but it involves courage and risk.

Quote
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:37-39

Slipping away, what can I say? Won't you stay inside me month of May? And hold onto me golden days? Slipping away...

Quote
I want to taste and glory in each day, and never be afraid to experience pain; and never shut myself up in a numb core of nonfeeling, or stop questioning and criticizing life and take the easy way out. To learn and think: to think and live; to live and learn: this always, with new insight, new understanding, and new love.
