A/N: Thank you so much for this request! I had made little changes to it of it coming from Harry’s point of view towards the end more than the reader’s. I hope you like it!

The Yule ball was coming up and it was coming up fast, maybe a little too fast for your liking as you didn’t have someone to go with yet.

Time had seemed to not be on your side as the days come and gone, inching closer to the night of the ball. Not having a date was not all true; you had several boys from your classes ask you and you politely turn down their invitation as you already had someone else in mind, someone that you had believed would ask you shortly. That someone you had in mind was your best friend, Harry Potter.

Your friendship had started in your first year when you stepped in his defense once Malfoy had started getting in his way of who he thinks his friends should be and not be, of the “right” ones to make friends with. Now not only were you friends with Harry, but soon along with Ron and Hermoine. The three of you shared the same house and classes together. Right now, you were seated in one of them, seated not too far down from trio. Once you picked up on their conversation about the Yule ball, you couldn’t help but let the curiosity get the better of you and listened in. The first bit of it you understood that Hermoine already had a date with someone while Harry and Ron didn’t.

“So it’s agreed that when we return to the commons, we both have dates?” Harry says, in whispered hushed tone.

“Yeah.”

Upon hearing that, you couldn’t help but let a smile form on your lips as you truly believed that today would be the day Harry would ask you out. Harry originally planned to ask you to go with him, but he felt too shy for some reason to fulfill that task and also in fear of your possible rejection. The way he was seeing things was that it wouldn’t be as difficult to accept rejection from someone he doesn’t know all too well and from someone in a different house. You walked casually down the halls as you noticed Harry asking Cho to the Yule ball. Before you could hear her response, you quickly retreated back to Gryffindor tower, not wanting to feel the hurt you were already feeling.

It must have been hours since you retreated because by the time you stopped sulking, you went back down to commons and found Harry laying back on the couch. He looked very distressed and possibly hurt, that was when it hit you; Cho had rejected his invitation for the Yule ball and this could possibly be your last chance in going with him. However, you than decide that if that’s what you were wanting, you would have to be the one to ask him. Just as you opened your mouth to do exactly that, you were interrupted when the doors burst open and fellow Gryffindors coming through with a lot of commotion as they walked in with Ron in their hands.

Like literally, and it had come to your understanding that he too, had just been rejected. Before you could begin to feel sorry for him, the twin girls walked by shooting a hello to Harry, as the commotion had made you forget in asking Harry out. As he took off after them, you were just about to follow behind when you heard Ron calling your name in a questioning way.

“…Y/n?”

“I’m sorry, what?”

“Will you go to the Yule ball with me?” Ron asked you.

Of course you said yes because you not only was he a good friend to you, but because you didn’t have the heart to reject him.

Harry had found a date after asking out one of the twin sisters while you went with Ron.

Throughout the whole night, you couldn’t help but take notice in Harry stealing a glance at you when he believed you weren’t looking his way. Harry felt the same emotions you did upon seeing you with someone else, let alone for that someone to be his best friend. When it comes down to it, however, you had a blast going with Ron. When the evening had come to an end, you were arriving late to Gryffindor tower. So late, that you really believed you were the last one to make it. But to your surprise, Harry seemed to have beat you there as you found him in the commons yet again.

“Hey, Harry.” You greeted.

“Hey Y/n…can we talk?”

“Sure, what about?”

It had turned out to be more of a bickering session than it was without a reasoning to talk about anything at all. Harry had made it clear to you of how upset he was when you didn’t ask him out and went with Ron instead. That took you by surprise and once he was finished, it was your turn to step in with your own words and opinions.

“Harry, you could have asked me, you know? Besides, Ron was the one who asked me out, I didn’t ask him. There is something else, after you took off after the twins, I was almost on my way to ask you when I got asked.”

“So, what you’re saying is..if I had asked you out in the beginning, you would’ve said yes?”

“Yes!”

You confirmed, then you both decide to laugh it off as a stupid mistake and from there, Harry had asked you for a date on the next trip to Hogsmade. That was something so little to argue over, and arguing is dumb anyways; not to mention a waste of time.

Prove Me Wrong

As far as you’re concerned, Draco Malfoy can just go drop dead somewhere without having anyone in the world to care.

Every chance he got, he would seize it and use it to pick on you and to push you around. This all started basically since the first school year you had shared, and he was the reason you looked forward to summer holidays more than anything else. You were a Gryffindor and everyone knows Gryffindors and Slytherins don’t match, no matter the pair. From the start, Draco had become your competition since the beginning as he only saw you as someone who was weak and had no potential about you.

At first, you figured he would eventually get tired of it and would leave you alone. How wrong you were! By this time, you were only in your third school year and he happened to be partnered up to you in potions class that you shared. It was your nightmare come true, you hardly could stand him and now you were just going to have to deal with it whether you liked it or not. It got worse after being partnered up and at this point, you were sick and tired of him always bickering you. Because he thought so low of you, you wanted to prove him wrong as he had absolutely no respect for not only you, but for anyone else in the school.

Sometimes, you’ve wondered if even Snape enjoyed him bickering you and had even encouraged him to keep it going. The thought made you feel almost red hot rage.

That morning during breakfast in the Great Hall, he even had the nerve to slip away from his table and walked over to yours.

Not only that, but interrupted a friendly conversation between you and the trio. Harry felt that it was his job to try and protect you from Draco’s pushing you around all the time, but it seemed to be nearly impossible. In an instant, the teasing started from there and went through all the way to the deep end, than it went to the ultimate level of your danger radar like personality in defensive mode. He seemed to be challenging you and it was enough to send you over the edge as you would say, you gladly accepted the challenge.

“Face it, L/n, you don’t have the guts.” Draco mocked, as you only gave him a serious stare.

“Just watch me.”

That was Draco pretty much encouraging, or more like daring you to talk down to the most hated teacher in Hogwarts.

Which was the potions master, of course. After Draco left the table, your friends tried to talk you out of doing it but you weren’t going to change your mind once you already had your mind set on something, there was no going back for you. It started off by you making yourself purposely fifteen minutes late to class and losing house points for it, which was to be the expected consequence.

“Ms. L/n, care to explain why you’re late?” Snape sounded agitated, as you looked over to Draco, who only gave you a smirk in response.

“I’m sorry I’m late, professor. I just didn’t want to come.”

Snape only glared at you before dismissing you to your seat, in which you took.

“Ten points from Gryffindor and two weeks detention, Ms. L/n.”

Throughout the lesson, you had used possibly the same number of opportunities Draco did when he teased you to be disruptive in any way you could think of. However, the next time you become disruptive again, you may have taken things a little to far. Far enough to have even Draco think so as well.

“Now, who can tell me what I get if I mixed…”

“I think I know the answer, sir!” Lavender Brown chimes in.

“I think I know the answer, sir!” You mocked her in a childish voice.

“Shut up you filthy mud blood!”

“Hey! Don’t call me mud blood you fucking whore!” You say, slamming your potions book shut.

“Ms. L/n! Did you just saw what I think you just had said?”

You only stare at him blankly, with a hint of an fake innocent look in your eyes and answer you give him.

“Whore?”

“No.. he’s talking about fuck, you can’t say fuck in school you fucking faggot.” Draco remarks.

“Malfoy!”

“Why the fuck not?”

“L/n!”

“Dude, you just said fuck again!” Goyle says.

“Goyle!”

“Fuck.”

“Crabbe!”

“What’s the big deal? It doesn’t hurt anybody. Fuck, fuckity, fuck, fuck!”

“How would you like to see the headmaster?”

“Why do you have to be such a giant ass?”

“What did you say?!”

“I said… WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SUCH A GIANT ASS?”

“Holy shit, dude.” Harry says.

He says that without even realizing it, than it strikes him once you find yourselves in the headmaster’s office, trying to use any excuses you could think of that sounded reasonable enough as to explain why those words were used in class, not to mention directly towards your teacher.

This certainly proved Draco wrong, and ever since this incident as you would call it, it seemed you have earned his respect through this achievement.

You whimpered as you continued the journey walk through Hogsmade and through the bitter cold weather of winter, side by side Cedric.

Cedric was smart enough to bring a heavy coat while you lazily picked only the possibly thin jacket from your dorm wardrobe. It was almost embarrassing to you because you were viewed for your highly status in intelligence, as you were at the top of your class when it comes to your grades. You were even considered to be more intelligent than Hermoine. With you only wearing what you had chosen seemed to bring down your intelligence a little lower in some way.

However, you never considered yourself to be smarter than everyone else, rather more stubborn. As Cedric got to know you, he found that to be one of the things he admired most about you and your humbling personality. As a humble person, you had always wanting nothing more than for what you already have and right now, what that was, was your boyfriend, Cedric. The slight whimper you tried to hide from him caught his attention as his eyes flickered over to you, watching you shiver to the bone while you made lame attempts to warm yourself up without needing your boyfriend’s help.

Cedric couldn’t help but chuckle before shrugging off his coat and handing it over to you.

“Here, take my jacket, love.”

“What about you?”

“I’ll be fine, don’t worry. You’ll freeze to death if you don’t get yourself warm.”

Nodding your head, you reluctantly accepted his heavy coat and put it on, instantly feeling much warmer. Cedric than pulls your closer to him so that you’re now snuggling his side , sharing each other’s warmth while you continued through Hogsmade. Every little bit of time you spent with Cedric was precious, before you know it, you are now finding yourself sitting at your regular table, sipping away butterbeer while you talk about all sorts of things, including your future together. Each Hogsmade trip, Cedric would often buy you gifts or just small random things. But to you, it was the memories you and Cedric made together was what you treasure the most of anything else.

The memories were something you plan to hang onto alway. Memories that you would keep and treasure forever and always.

Cedric was any girl’s dream; but you were his dream girl and the luckiest girl to be called his love.

Harry had been your best friend for god knows how long until you eventually started dating. On some days, it seemed to be as though he was your only friend as you went to different schools.

Everyone had something unique about them, and you were just about to find out something Harry had kept from you over the years in just a matter of seconds. It all started while you were both hanging out together in the local park, sitting on the swings as you were helping Harry grieve over the lost of his friend the previous school year.

Just as Harry was sharing memories of his friend, the beautiful, yet sad moment had to be disruptive by his jackass cousin, Dudley Dursley. No matter how hard you’ve tried, it seemed that he, Dudley, found ways around to hurt and/or tease Harry.. even in the presence of his supposedly muggle girlfriend. Just as you always do in this situation, you held onto Harry’s hand to try and have him remain calm, but it all became too much, even for you, of Dudely’s rude teasing remarks he threw at Harry. He knew how to get under Harry’s skin as you started to feel Harry’s hands shake in almost red hot rage.

“Who’s Cedric? Is he your boyfriend?” Dudley sneered, mockingly.

Harry’s hand tore apart from yours as he stood up and angrily approached Dudley as he pulled something out of his pocket. When our watched Harry pulled something out of his pocket, you at first, thought it was a knife, but than recognized it as a Wizard’s wand.

“So..Harry’s just like me, except a wizard.” You thought to yourself.

You had sworn to secrecy to Harry you’d never tell anyone what you had witnessed with the unexpected visitors that fateful and almost fearful day.

As much as you almost hated to admit it, you felt sorry for Dudley after the whole thing happened. But the way you got through it, was you kept reminding yourself that was all in the past now and didn’t have to worry as it already had happened. At the same time, however, it wasn’t like he was already asking for it. Even though you now knew about Harry being a wizard, you still kept your own secret from him, you promised yourself to tell him when you felt the timing was right. But that timing had come earlier than you would have liked as for Bellatrix had somehow gotten her hands on you and dragged you back to Malfoy Manor and threw you in the dungeons as you where you would be waiting for your fate.

You had been taken not long after the death of Dumbledore; the headmaster of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While you were awaiting your fate in the cold dungeons, that’s where you had met Luna Lovegood and you befriended each other. All your access to magic had been confiscated and were almost powerless to make an escape attempt. This had left you with almost nothing, but the weapons you used was putting your heads together for ideas, plans to escape the very next time they open the dungeons. While you were doing your part in trying to find a way out of this mess, Harry and the gang were already on their way to rescue you. They didn’t know where you were exactly until they were brought to Malfoy Manor and was introduced to the dungeons.

Evil schemes echoed throughout the Manor and you would be lying if you had said it didn’t scare you because it did whenever the rumors had reached to you by one of Voldemort’s most loyal death eaters. Your heartbeat had picked up as soon as you heard footsteps coming towards the cell you were being kept in, thinking it was another follower, you maintained your distance as planned in order to make a run for freedom. Only this time, however, when you got a closer look and saw who it was they brought in, the plan slipped away from your mind as you realized it was Harry. Once they brought forth Harry and Ron, Harry immediately ran over to you, than he noticed you there accompanied by Luna Lovegood. Harry than engulfs you in his loving arms, whispering promises to never loose you like that again.

You were his absolute world and without you, his world would be shattered and he would be lost. Not only lost, but a lost soul yearning for his true love to be back by his side to where she truly belongs.

Of course, you’ve all escaped Malfoy Manor thanks to Dobby’s help and during that battle of your escape was when the fact of you being a witch rather than a muggle like Harry had thought you were had been revealed unto him when you used a spell to block ones killing curse directed at him. Much to your surprise, Harry wasn’t upset at all, he was just happy to have you back safely by his side. However, not everything was as they had seemed to be, as for escaping had come with a sacrifice that was almost too hard to accept.

As if losing one friend wasn’t hard enough for Harry already, escaping the manor you were held captive in took the life of Dobby and it was just as heartbreaking for you as it was for Harry. You both were doing your absolute best to move on forward with your lives as that would have been what Dobby had wanted for both of you.
