A polite, patient explanation that I think we should acknowledge the potential ethical issues of AI just earned me my first ever accusation of being a troll.
After more than twenty years on the internet, I feel I have finally completed a major rite of passage.

Was anybody going to tell me there's a rumour Bethesda are remaking Oblivion, or did I have to find out from responding to my brother's excitement about the Switch 2 with a joke that he should wake me up when Bethesda announced anything TES-related other than "Skyrim, Again", to which he replied "well, actually..."?
Catching up with the rumours and comments about it has been fun.
"It's coming no it's not yes it is confirmed not happening confirmed being released in the next ten minutes I want to get off Todd Howard's Wild Ride"
#posting now even though I should be getting ready for work because it might have been released by the time I get home#honestly don't know whether I'm excited or not (assuming the rumour is true)#frithjofr was my defining oblivion experience and I LOVED it#but I don't know if I can revisit that emotion again#there's nothing like playing a game for the first time#the story. the ''sneaking'' by sprinting through a room screaming. the accidental horse theft. 'alchemy' consisting of preparing a sandwich#that delightful chaos cannot be replicated#not to mention how I played oblivion while at uni/just after leaving#that was such a specific period of my life and I'm both a very different and uncomfortably similar person 10+ years later#and of course everyone here! I wouldn't be here if not for oblivion and the lovely people who welcomed me into the tes rp community#no frithjofr = no boarchasers = no hlenil/morinah/fria = no pirates = no pirate dnd campaign = no morris#(skullduggan would probably still exist though. sorry about that.)#totally offtopic by the way but I dreamed I was fria making a manta ray puppet the other night. it was beautiful#the frills at the edge were a floaty material and the body was illuminated with swirl patterns

My cat has recently learned that instead of going windowsill -> floor -> bed to jump on me at 6am, this slightly overweight middle-aged fluffball can launch himself directly from the windowsill to my abdomen, and he has decided to use this power for evil.

Update upon finishing the book: the main character had a disappointing and inexplicable personality switch as soon as they met the love interest and nothing proceeded to happen for the rest of the book. Skullduggan would never.
Friend with no knowledge of my tabletop characters recommended me a book which might as well be about Skullduggan, and I have to say, the frustration of not being able to explain to anyone why this book seems to be targeted at me specifically and personally is unparalleled.
#the unique disappointment of a book which lures you in only to become boring partway through#leaving you obliged to finish it while mourning what could have been#I spent all day at work rewriting it in my head#anyway I copied the notes I made for Skullduggan family histoy stuff on my phone to an rtf and there are. a lot.
