Hello I am alive (barely, with work in the festive season). And I have finished Veilguard. Thoughts with the mildest of mild spoilers under the cut (no plot details), but prepare for incoming skelespam.

I enjoyed it! Are there areas in desperate need of improvement? Yes, specifically the romances, and I'm not a fan of the Souls-ish combat, but I enjoyed the story and would go so far as to say it's a more complete and stable game than Inquisition was upon release. The fact it's as good as it is after such a disastrous development cycle is nothing short of a miracle.

Further notes:

I would do anything for Manfred.

Thrilled to bits that my Rook could be nonbinary!

They romanced Lucanis because I am basic and a sucker for people battling to control literal inner demons, but they would have romanced Taash had they not been working through their own identity. Emmrich is firmly slated for next game, though.

Although the lack of influence from previous games is disappointing, I'm excited to do my Alternative Choices Worldstate Playthrough just because I get to see Dorian and his husband Hugo together one last time <3

(Speaking of, had I gone with swapping my Inquisitors around for Veilguard, Emmrich would be perfect for Hugo. Mage his family would greatly disapprove of who has a passion for botany and sleeps in a library? Yes please.)

I also want to do a What If playthrough of my Warden making it to Veilguard so she can romance Davrin and finally get her griffon.

My dad is also playing the game and has decided his companions are named Emmental and Banana.

I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR MANFRED.
