i hate owning objects

ever since i moved in a year ago, i've gathered feathers from the sidewalk. when i first moved, before i got the old job, i only picked up clean ones, early in the morning. during the old job it was too dark to tell when i was walking home, so i brought home some real stinkers on accident, that had been stepped on by crowds of people, and had a coating of dirt. because i would get home, stick it in a clothespin stuck to the side of my fridge, and only then turn on the light, without ever touching the soft part of the feather. they're not in order or anything. but recently i ran out of clothespins. so i've stopped picking up feathers

i almost stole an umbrella the day before yesterday. it was a decent one, black and half my height when closed. another student had left it in the back of a classroom. i said that it was mine now, "finders keepers". nobody denied it, but a few classmates laughed a little. i asked if there was a lost and found, but realized it would be more likely to be retrieved from where it had been left. i joked about pawning it for a dollar. the teacher joked back that it would only get fifty cents.

yesterday it rained for miles and i wished i had taken it.

Took a beautiful walk after work, just long enough that my feet are hot with pins and needles, backs of my calves humming. Not quite painful, just buzzing... its muggy out, not warm or chilly, just exactly body temperature.

lately i have these wild ideas in my head of a "utopia" that's extremely clean, where not leaving a place cleaner than you found it is seen as the worst behavior imaginable. where everything is held in common, and no one has the right to deny themselves a decent environment because to do so would deny everyone else as well. the only detailed feature that comes to my mind again and again are these extremely luxurious public bathrooms with showers, bathtubs etc in a lavish roman style...

bought a very tiny red rose plant, soon it'll be warm enough to put it outside, and then too hot for it to be out there, and then, probably, too hot for it to be in here! so i'll enjoy it while i can.
