Before Y/N could tell him how she feels about him too he apologize’s and says that that was a dumb idea and he runs away covering his face blushing. Today was the day. Hunter stares at himself in the mirror, a little red with his own nerve.

“Okay..okay! You can do this, Hunter! Just..come up to her, and tell her how you feel. It won’t be hard! You used to be in the emperor’s coven, you used to battle criminals on the daily! What’s one confession to a really cool girl gonna do to your ego? Nothing, that’s what!” 

Even his lies don’t convince him. He sighs, running his hands through his hair. 

“Who am I kidding…Y/N isn’t just some cool girl…she’s the coolest! Ughh—”

Whatever. This day with everyone to the local county fair might give him some confidence. Hunter still had to get ready, after all. 

Yeah, he’s definitely not ready for this.

It had been quite a day. Hunter definitely thought so. Willow and Gus ran off to go do a bet — ‘whoever pukes first before going through all the rides loses!’. Ew. And Luz and Amity went off to win some plushie for each other. Eda and King went around, scamming oblivious tourists. 

So now…he was alone. With Y/N. In a secluded spot behind the food court. They both sat together, quiet. 

Hunter glances over to Y/N. She was looking at the fireworks above, a soft smile on her features. He reddens, looking away. She was just so…pretty. How could he even start?

“Um..Y/N?”

“Yes, Hunter?” She looks over to him. The sounds of the fireworks seem to fade away when she locks eyes with him. Titan, he really was smitten. 

“I uh, have something to tell you.”

“Oh? Go ahead!” she grins. She looks at him curiously, fiddling with the hems of her dress. Hunter gulps. 

“So, you know how we’ve known each other for a while?”

“Mhm.”

“I, um, guess…I caught something in those years of knowing you.” He was just making himself suffer at this point, dragging the whole thing longer than it needed to be. Just say the words! 

Y/N continued to look at him with that awe-struck eyes. “And?” she asks gently, waiting patiently for his next string of words to come out. 

“...feelings. I..I caught feelings for you. Y-you’re just really, pretty, and really sweet, and you’re so cool, a-and..”

His face felt like it was on fire, red as a beet. Hunter stumbles on his words, while Y/N simply stares at him with those eyes, so alluring. Like she was waiting for him to get to the point.

He glances at her lips. A static shock goes against his heart, like it was trying to egg him on. 

“I..”

He leans closer. Y/N does the same. He could feel her breath on his lips, so close — it smelled like lavender, and a hint of cinnamon. From the pretzel she had eaten before, he thinks with a quiet chuckle. 

And without further ado, they lock lips. It was short, chaste, soft. It had been something Hunter found himself thinking about too much – how it would be lke to kiss her. And this..this was more than he could ever imagine. Something beyond his wildest dreams. 

He loved it. 

His heart gives a flutter before they breath apart. Suddenly shy, Y/N whispers, 

“What are you trying to say?”

“W-what I’m trying to say is—” And with that, Hunter knew he was fighting a losing battle— “NOTHING, I’M NOT SAYING ANYTHING! Y-YOU’RE CRAZY! SORRY THIS WAS A BAD IDEA. OKAY GOODBYE FOREVER.”

He stands up quickly, before running off, hiding his very red face in his hands, he looked like he was about to explode at that point. In his mind he’s firing off so many thoughts, all at once, still very flustered — oh, Titan, why did I say that, now she’s gonna hate me forever, I shouldn’t have said anything at all, and kissing her?! I’m so dead. 

Y/N was left to her own uncollected thoughts as everyone appeared from their hiding places. 

“I really thought he was gonna do it!” gasps Willow, as Gus lends her a handful of popcorn. “Jeez, he chickened out? Boo!” he adds. 

“Man, just when I thought he gathered up all his confidence,” Luz says with a shake of her head. 

“Poor Y/N, though, she’s utterly confused,” Amity says, pointing at Y/N. She seemed a little red herself, to be honest, still staring at Hunter’s fading figure. 

“He literally kissed her, what is it with you kids and your unnecessary drama?” Eda says, perhaps a little too loud. 

When Y/N turns around, everyone pops back into their hiding places.

“He…he likes me?” she says, reddening. Flustered. 

-THE NEXT DAY-

The blonde boy sighs. He had a lot on his mind. Too many thoughts clouding his rational thinking. He glances up at the wisteria tree above him. He liked the Hexside garden. A lot. It could clear his head. 

But not today. Not even the sweet scent of the wisteria could help him this time. 

“Skipping classes, are you?”

Hunter jolts at the voice — her voice — before looking her way. Y/N stands there, a soft, unreadable expression painted on her face. 

“How did you find me?” he asks first. 

She sits down beside him with a sigh. “Luz told me.”

“Of course she did..” he mutters to himself. 

It was quiet again. Neither knew what to say. When Hunter looks back at her, he realizes she was already looking at him. Surprised, he quickly glances away, cheeks red. 

“About last night…”

“Look, can we just…forget about what happened? I-I’m sorry, I made everything awkward between us–”

“No, no, not at all!” she smiles, touching his hand. “You…you put things into perspective with me, actually..”

“And? Wh…what do you think?” he was anxious, fidgeting and red. He didn’t know if he wanted to hear the next words that would escape Y/N’s lips or not. 

“I like you back, Hunter. How could I not? You’re so sweet, and very kind, and you’re stupidly adorable when you’re flustered.”

He blinks. 

What?

“..What?” He repeats the singular word in his mind. 

“I like you back, you big dork,” she repeats, grinning up at him, still red. “So, what do you say?”

“I..”

Another absentminded glance back to her lips, and Hunter gives in. The faint static of electricity blooms in his chest, the same one back at the fair…

And this time, she leans in. This time, she initiates the kiss. He didn’t think it possible to feel the fluttering in his heart again, not when it was so rare, but he did. He felt it. And suddenly he was a mess again, a stupid, dorky, awkward mess. He melts into the kiss, shutting his eyes. It was…perfect. This time, the kiss wasn’t too short, Hunter could focus on the different parts of it…how soft her lips were, probably from the chapstick she liked to use…lavender, that was it. That was why he tasted lavender…and the smell of the wisteria leaves seem to flutter and dance about the pair. 

When they both pulled apart, it was apparent Y/N herself was blushing. 

“I say..”

She waits for his response, with baited breath. 

“...that your chapstick tastes pretty good.”

She blinks, then laughs. Her laugh always was so angelic…Hunter, focus here! She giggles, slightly, still a little surprised but giddy at his joke. 

“Do you want the brand?” she teases. He rolls his eyes playfully, almost forgetting his nervousness. 

“Maybe I could try tasting it again? Uh, you know…just as a trial, to see if I wanna buy my own.”

“Be my guest.” 

They kiss again, under that wisteria tree. He was in pure bliss. Was this the feeling many spoke of? He finally understood. 

Under that wisteria tree, Hunter could see the secrets of the universe in her eyes, he could feel everything with her kiss.

The two were cuddling after an uneventful day, both sweetly asleep tangled in each other. Hunter was tired, very tired, and yawned before rolling over. 

He could feel her presence beside him, and that alone caused him to doze off. 

Until a hand snakes up his torso. Hunter jolts, face red as he feels himself getting pulled away from his side of the bed, and into Y/N’s domain. 

His face goes even redder when he’s pushed against her, the both of them now facing another, faces merely inches apart. He gulps, now having this new view of his girlfriend. 

Y/N was fast asleep, and her quiet snores filled the room. Hunter’s ears turn pink when she cuddles closer to him, burying her cute face into the crown of his head, her nose engulfed in his golden blonde hair. 

“Mm….you’re very warm, it’s comforting….” she whispers in his ear, still fast asleep. Hunter stays absolutely still, not wanting to wake her up, but still wanting to leave her grasp. Hunter adjusts his position, trying to wriggle himself out of her hands. She only tightens her grip, as if she didn’t want him to leave. 

He’s still red in the face, but he slowly begins to resign to it. Actually, he’s starting to enjoy his girlfriend’s embrace…

Slowly, he places a hand on her, giving her a light hug before his eyes shut, giving way to his sleepy-ness. 

IN THE MORNING:

Hunter first hears the sound of muffled laughter and the shutters of a phone camera go off in his ear. 

“Shh, shhh….you’ll wake them up!”

“Wait, just a couple more pictures..!”

Hunter suddenly pulls himself up, not minding his bed hair. There, he’s face to face with a giggling Luz Noceda and a smug Willow Park, who both click photos. 

“Great, now we have blackmail!”

“LUZ!!”

The two teenage girls stumble out of the guest room, laughing, with Willow shouting out, “You two look adorable together!”

“Hunter..? What was that about?” Y/N’s voice fills his ears. Hunter quickly looks over to her, blushing, “Y/N! You’re awake?!”

She nods, yawning whilst rubbing her eyes, “What happened?”

Ding!

Y/N’s phone rung. She pulls it out, and her eyes widen when she sees it. There, sent by Luz, was a photo of her and Hunter cuddling. 

“W-when was this?!” she asks, surprised and flustered, showing the photo to him. He groans, “Luz! I’ll get her for this, I swear—”

“W-was it comfortable at least, Hunter~?” Her innocent question turns Hunter completely red in the face. 

“Y-yeah, it was.” he admits. “W-we really should try doing it again sometime.”

“Oh, okay.” she replies. 

It’s silent, only the sounds of the sloshing waves underneath the boat covering the quiet. Hunter gulps, glancing back at Y/N, purple-red pupils dilating a little. 

‘She’s so pretty’, he thinks with a sigh. ‘How could I be so lucky?’

Hunter never thought he would date the human apprentice of the Owl Lady. Sixteen years old, glimmering eyes that he could get lost in for hours. And him, the golden guard, eyebags and tooth gap and all. How could such a perfect person want to date his scumbag self?

“It’s, u-um, really pretty out here.” he stumbles on his words. 

“It really is.” She smiles at the scenery. Y/N looks back to him, just to see he was already staring at her. Red flushes her cheeks, blinking.

“We don’t have all night to wait for that!” King says before thinking, “Well, we do, but I’m too impatient for that!”

Hooty watches everyone’s frowns and clears his throat. 

“Don't worry! I'll take care of this shyness and give them their courage through SONG!"

“WHAT.” Willow. 

“Wait, no, please—” King. 

“That might be interesting, actually,” Gus.

It was awkwardly quiet again. Hunter clears his throat, “So, um, Y/N, I—”

“There, you see her. Sitting there across the way. She don’t got a lot to say but there’s something about her~”

Y/N catches Hooty’s grin before he retracts into the ocean. She begins to hear music, quiet and soft. When Hunter glances to Hooty’s direction, Hooty splashes back to sing in his ear, 

“And you don’t know why but you’re dying to try you wanna, kiss the girl!”

“D-did you hear something?” Hunter asks, turning over to Y/N. She only shrugs, giving him a sheepish smile. 

Ducks begin to emerge from the water, acting like instrumentals as Hooty sings, 

“Yes, you want her. Look at you you know it’s true!”

Hunter reddens, “Is it just me or is someone singing..”

“Possible she wants you too, there’s one way to ask her!”

“I-I…” Y/N’s face also erupts in pink.

“Oh, Hunter, it’s not your fault that they hate wild magic,” she gently places a hand onto his, and when he feels her featherlight touch he jolts, but he doesn’t pull away, only squeezing it tighter. Y/N’s face brightens, pink settling in her cheeks. 

“Now’s your moment,” Hooty sings as they float into a crystal cave, “Floating in a blue lagoon. Boy you better do it soon, no time will be better..”

“Can I just say how p-oretty you look, in that dress?” he stutters. Her eyes widen, 

“W-well, thank you, Hunter…I really like that t-tie on you, you know..”

“I picked it in your favorite color,” he replies softly. 

A ring of fireflies suddenly appear, flying in a circle around the boat. Slowly, the boat swims to a stop. 

“H-Hunter, I..”

“C-Can I kiss you, Y/N?” he asks abruptly, then reddens as he realizes how quick he had said it. “O-only if you want to, of course.”

“Sha-la-la-la don’t be scared, you’ve got the mood prepared!”

The song softens as Y/N takes his hand, gently resting it on her face, 

“I would l-love to kiss you, Hunter.”

And they move closer, breaths hitching as they both glance at each other’s lips. Then they lock lips, both sighing against their skin. It was gentle, soft, quiet. 

Until it wasn’t. Y/N feels her face heat up as he kisses harder, full of passion. She reciprocates, smelling his breath of mint and lavender.

They both fall over, with Y/N on top of Hunter and him under her, still kissing intensely. 

“Sha-la-la-la, float along! And listen to the song! The song says, kiss the girl.”

They break apart, out of breath. Hunter’s ears are red as he blushes, until Y/N giggles quietly. He chuckles, then the two laugh, giddy and excited at their newfound love. 

“We should, uh, do this more often.” Hunter. 

“You think?” Y/N. 

“I do.” Hunter.

She smiles before giving him another kiss, 

“I’d love to.”

Cheers erupt as everyone high-fives, 

“We did it! We actually did it!” Willow whoops. Gus grins, “Remind me to listen to Hooty’s suggestions more next time.”

“Good job, Hoots!” Eda smiles as Hooty appears, rubbing his head affectionately, “I doubted you, not going to lie, but you did it in the end!”

“I’m such a good singer, aren’t I!” Hooty says happily.

Prompt: In the Noceda’s guest room, Y/N has a plan to cheer her boyfriend up. 

It had been a long night. Firstly, everyone had gone out for groceries, and that got out of hand quickly. Then, Gus and Willow ran out of the house to get some ice cream from the truck, which panicked Camila greatly. 

Now, thankfully, everyone was calm and happy downstairs, eating from this strange ‘Mcdonalds’ food restaurant. Y/N didn’t quite like the smell of the greasy food, so she had excused herself from the table, instead deciding to make a little salad bowl.

Plus, she was getting worried about Hunter. He seemed very out of it, these days. Tired, perhaps. At least that was what Y/N told herself. Ever since the group had escaped the Demon Realm, he seemed to be isolating himself. She hated seeing her boyfriend like that. 

Now, he locked himself up in the guest room after grocery shopping. Luz, Camila, and Gus had tried getting him out, but he hadn’t replied to any of them. 

Y/N walks up the stairs, gazing at old pictures of baby Luz and newer ones with Vee. She smiles softly. Camila was really nice to let everyone stay. 

She reaches the end of the staircase, and moves to the guest room. Her curled up fist hesitates as it hovers from the wood. Would Hunter even reply to her? Would he tell her to leave in anger? She could feel little tears pricking up her eyes as she thought of the scenario. 

No. She had to at least check if he was okay. 

She knocks. 

“Miss Camila, I’m not really hungry right now.” she hears his muffled voice. 

“Hunter? Hunter, it’s me, Y/N.” she bites her lip, as if flinching for the trace of anger in his voice when he would address her. 

“Y/N?” 

She hears footsteps, and the door opens. There he stands, towering over her small height, blonde hair a mess and eyes dark. 

“What are you doing here? I thought Luz and Miss Camila bought you guys food.” he asks, voice softening as he gazes at her. 

Y/N gulps. “I wasn’t hungry.” she replies. 

“But you have to eat. You must. Even a little.”

She shakes her head, “No, I had some salad. Everything’s okay with me.”

“Oh.” he glances down, but a little smile creeps onto his lips, as if relieved. “That’s good.”

“M-may I come in?” her lip quivers as she embraces the ‘no’ she knew would come out of his mouth. 

“Of course.” he moves out of the way, revealing the dark room, the only light a golden lava lamp illuminating a corner. 

She steps in. “Have you been asleep all this time?” she questions as she sits at the foot of his bed. Hunter nods a little, “I have. I’m, uh, a little tired,”

“It’s good you’re getting enough sleep now.” she gives him a quiet smile, and Hunter’s ears pinken slightly at the sight of his girlfriend’s lips upturning. A hand touches her cheek softly, 

“You always are so beautiful.”

“Hunter, I…” she gulps, face reddening. 

“Oh, Titan!” his hand melts off of her face, “Sorry, are you getting uncomfortable? I-I’ll stop.”

“No, no. Not at all.” she replies, flustered, “I was just….caught off guard. That’s all.” avoiding his eyes she adds, “I like it when you put your hand on my cheek.”

He blinks, then red spreads across his face. He slowly places his hand back, rubbing softly, and Y/N leans into the touch. 

“I’m sorry.”

“What?”

“I’m sorry,” he repeats, dropping his voice down to a whisper, “For ignoring you. Ignoring everyone. I just….”

“I understand, Hunty.” She hopes the nickname will comfort him. And it does. A little laugh escapes his lips. 

“Y/N. Always an angel.”

And his eyes flick down to her lips, and hers gaze at his. She moves her head, closing the gap in between them. 

Hunter moves in, lips crashing with another. It was soft, it was shy. 

It was everything she dreamed of. 

They both pull away, for air. Hunter’s ears are fully red, whilst Y/N’s cheeks are pink. 

“I’m sorry. I didn’t ask.”

“No, it’s quite alright. I-I think I want to do it again, actually.” she says shyly, tucking a stray hair under her ear. 

“Y-you do?” his eyes widened. 

She gives him a quick peck on his lips, “I do.” 

He sighs in content, before leaning on her shoulder. A few minutes of silence pass. 

“H-Hunter?”

“Yes, N/N?”

“T-there’s something n-new I want to try.”

“Go ahead.” he smiles at her. She takes in a breath, before moving her soft lips against the side of Hunter’s neck, kissing it.

He sharply sucks in some air, sighing. 

“Your neck is so sensitive.” she says as she moves to another side, kissing the skin. He shuts his eyes. 

“Is this alright with you?” she asks tentatively. He nods. 

“It's alright with me, N/N.”

He feels her warm lips move across his neck, mellow pecks that are lush and sweet. She shifts her head to his shoulder, slowly moving the fabric of his shirt away to land another kiss on it. His reddened face goes even deeper when she nuzzles her face in the crook of his neck, giving his jawline three gentle kisses. They both fall over, muffled laughs as Hunter props himself onto a pillow. 

With one last, chaste and soft kiss on the lips, Hunter wraps his hand around Y/N. 

“I love you so much.”

-he would research about it in the library, thinking your crushing were symptoms of a sickness or curse

-until he finally decided to ask you
