Rey discovers Snoke is creating horcruxes and Ben goes to the cave to destroy it but almost dies, and Rey begs him to join the order. He agrees, but Rey is broken hearted. They go their seperate ways and fourteen years later, Ben is teaching DADA and Rey is the newly appointed Herbology teacher. Okay so here are all of my favorite fics that maybe don’t have smut in them but like they just slap so hard that I love them dearly, since smut definitely ain’t for everyone. Taken from my bookmarks, lmao.

I’ll Be Seeing You by tomorrowthestars, @reyloandotherfandoms INCOMPLETE

I can’t say enough nice things about this one. It’s underrated as hell I mean god. It blends the budding romance between Ben and Rey effortlessly with the backdrop of the looming war that you can see coming around the bend and it’s just wonderful.

2. The Limit Does Not Exist, by daisyflo, @reylolujah INCOMPLETE

ITS A MEAN GIRLS AU with Ben as a plastic and Rey as the Cady character. No Aaron Samuels here, and he ain’t needed because this is perfect enough on its own. 

3. KAGTSRTHR by @reyofdarkness 

This is just good. Like it’s only a two shot, but in five thousand words or so I really got attached to these characters and the little atmosphere she built around them. It’s been reread. A few times. It’s just fucking good

4.  _Snowflakes _by @nightsofreylo 

Again, only a one shot, but it made me feel things. Rey’s backstory was full of the angst I crave and desire and the tension between her and Ben is chef’s kiss perfection. 

5. Unwritten Oaths, by @reylocalligraphy INCOMPLETE

Hogwarts AU with Ben and Rey as head boy and girl and it’s just perfect. They’re just adorable and she’s developing their friendship so beautifully in a way that as an author you can only hope to produce this level of character development. 

6. Steal Away With Me by @erulisse17 INCOMPLETE

Rey is a thief and Ben’s an agent trying to catch her. I haven’t caught up yet, but this fic is so good already and I deeply, deeply love how they keep just missing one another and the way she teases him is just chef’s kiss

7. Resistance, New York by @captainsandsoldiers

This is an older one that a lot of people have probably read, but your girl was new to fandom this year and had a lot of catching up to do. This one’s just fun, and it’s everything high school AUs should be.

8. Burgeoning Hope by @crossingwinter 

Look man, I normally don’t read pregnancy/baby fics, since babies and pregnancy in general usually freaks me out. I usually get squicked out or have to scroll through a lot of shit to avoid certain aspects of said fics (I can read them, however, if it’s tagged and I have a warning). That said, there are exceptions, and I never had to worry about that with this one. In fact, I’ve reread it. The angst is phenomenal and their fluffy moments are also equally captivating. On top of that, Rey is bad ass as FUCK and the premise is hilarious.

9. Sky Marked Souls by @anonymousmink

I love soulmate AUs. I really do. I have coauthored one and I wanna write more because that trope IS FUN. This one really makes good use of the whole soulmark thing, having BLUE appear on the other person’s skin whenever one of them has experienced pain? I love that so much. This was a fantastic read for me just getting into the fandom, so if you haven’t read it, I recommend it.

10. Like Young Gods by @kylorenvevo

Yeah I know you’ve probably read this one too, but uh… it’s just really, really good, that’s all I can say about it. I know its sequel is not nearly as smut free as this is, but it’s still wonderful. Jedi Rey and Ben are super cute.

11. Not for the Life of Me by @reyridinghood INCOMPLETE

LISTEN. I am a theatre kid. I love musicals. This is a Thoroughly Modern Millie AU and it’s so freaking cute and clever, and I am… LIVING FOR IT. It disappeared from Ao3 for a while but it’s back and it’s author is back and I’m so happy because of it. 

12. Let’s Get These Teen Hearts Beating by @machinewithoutfeelings

One shot. Ben works at Hot Topic, they’re both mall employees. There’s a cute scene where Ben does her makeup. NUFF SAID THIS IS GREAT

13) The Night Guard 

So I based this off of the premise of the Night at the Museum trilogy. Basically, Rey, ordinary human girl, is the night guard at the museum that comes to life, and all of the stuff in the museum really happened a long time ago in a galaxy far away, but the data wound up on Earth, and humans being humans built a museum for it. This is a lot of plot, but it’s honestly one of my favorite things I’ve ever written.

14) Constellations

Post TLJ One shot, in which the force connects them while Rey is stargazing, and Ben winds up joining her and they share a really sweet moment beneath the stars.

So I know you are a writer of Reylo fanfic .. and I was hoping that you could give me some recommendations for some good ones to start out on. Whether they be yours or somebody else's. I'm just kinda new here to the Reylo fam and don't really know where to look.

There’s a huge spectrum of Reylo fics out there, canonverse, AUs, divergent timelines. You name it, someone’s probably wrote it. I’m going to give a few recs in various categories, but I also would recommend you check out @reylofic who has a massive collection of organized reylo fic recs into different categories, and @underrated-reylo who recs fics that are flying under the radar and have 150ish kudos or less.

Canonverse through TFA

These fics are canon compliant through TFA. They were all written or started before TLJ so they aren’t compliant with it (though some did a good job of predicting things in it)

A Collision of Stars by DustOfTheAncients - The first Reylo fic I read. I didn’t stop reading all night. Slow burn.

*Mine to Hold by @theauraki  - Reylo baby fic. Supreme Leader Ren. Somewhat of a dubcon situation. Smut heavy (and fabulous).

Thwarted by @perrydowning​  - Supreme Leader Ren obsessed with his scavenger. Slow burn, force bond.

*Landscape With a Blur of Conquerors by @kylorenvevo​ - Arranged marriage. Renperor. Slow burn. Lots of old EU tie ins. This is one of the best fics I’ve ever read. The slow burn is brutal though, be warned.

*When the Day Loved the Night by @nottheyounglings​ - Arranged marriage/prisoner Rey. The author’s prose is really lovely.

Take No Prisoners  by @ava-dalo​ - One of my favorite Rey characterizations. Kinda dark but also funny. One of my all time favorites.

Canonverse through TLJ

I’m still catching up with all the new post-TLJ fics. I do have one I’m following right now that I rec highly. 

*Black Tide by phainopepla - I love this fic. It’s somehow serious yet borderline cracky in places. It’s gripping so far and it’s funny. It has a Sith who bakes in her spare time between crushing planets. What’s not to love?

Star Wars universe but at some point diverging from the timeline. In some cases it means things are tweaked, in others they’re practically a new galaxy.

Waiting for the Dark by phainopepla - One of my all time favorites. It’s dark. Dark Rey, Dark Kylo. Trigger warnings for some pretty nasty torture. Diverges that Rey never escapes the interrogation room.

*Prisoner by @reylojohnson​ - The Republic outlawed use of the force and imprisons force users. Fun ride so far.

*Low Places - Sequel to Pro Forma. In a seedy bar on a neutral planet, Kylo and Rey meet once again. I don’t know the best way to describe this… it’s lighthearted and humorous despite tense moments. 

*Remnants - Another TFA Flip Script/Divergent AU. Ben Solo never fell to the dark side, but the temple was still destroyed and Luke vanished.

*Apathetic Synergy - Divergent AU where Rey was captured at the end of TFA

*Something to Love - Canonverse through TFA. Reylo baby fic, Rey and Kylo runaway together AU. After the first chapter the angst gets pretty high, and I will make you hate characters you didn’t think you would hate.
