Examining older books and how theyre made is really fascinating to me. Puts mass produced books a little into perspective. You instantly notice if a book was handmade.

Im still a beginner in bookbinding but i love each one i created. So far i mostly made hardcover notebooks that i actively use or give away as gifts. Even though each has one or more flaws, i found theyre still more robust than newer, commercial books

Recently figured out how to bind & print books with signatures & am excited to make a book like that next year!!!

publishing companies will be like ~ooh this is a hardcover oooh it's so durable that will be $35~ and then you see the actual book and it's like. "perfect"-bound with endbands glued on crooked and a completely plain paper cover under the dust jacket. my dudes this shit is a mass market paperback with delusions of grandeur
