I am Hoder, god of darkness and twin to Balder. I have done many horrible things in my life. I do not deserve forgiveness, but I seek it all the same. [Affiliated with the Victory or Valhalla RP Group]

OOC: It's Time for Me to Move On
I won't be using this RP account, anymore. I probably won't delete it, but I won't be on it, either. It was fun for a while, and I thank every last one of you who made it so. Balder, Fandral, bb, Jubes, Xarus, Hercules... I will miss interacting with you guys, but it's time to move on. I've been miserable with a lot of things for months now, and I've come to the conclusion that I'm only sticking around because I'm afraid of change. Well, it's time for change. Before the bad starts to overshadow the good in my memories.
Hopefully we'll meet again some time, on other accounts or other fandoms. But Hoder Odinson has breathed his last.

[He glances sideways at Fandral, then rubs the back of his neck in agitation.]
You're right, of course.
[He heaves a sigh.]
Looks like I'll be paying a visit to dear old dad, then. I've never asked the man a favor in my life, never knew I had reason to. May as well make the first a hefty one.
brotherofbalder asked:
Ah, smart to bring Hela here. To the very place Balder is kept. [He raises a brow, eyeing him.]

Balder would only dissuade me or take the matter to Loki. I suppose Odin has experience with these matters but...
[He already has a veritable list of things he would ask his birth father, and this does not even make the top ten. He doubts he will get that far.]
Thor is still Allfather. And King. Perhaps he could arrange a meeting between monarchs.
brotherofbalder asked:
[He sets down the now empty bottle with a heavy clunk. He is too troubled with thoughts to be drunk enough to forget them, though, which is a displeasing fact.]
Does not hurt to try, if you have more than one. Does he not wish to be recieved int the halls we all so strive for? [He shakes his head.] Balder the Brave and yet Balder does not vie for the greatest honor there is. He must truly love that evil creature indeed.

[Hoder frowns, wishing he had brought more alcohol with him. He's sure Fandral has some stashed away somewhere, but it would be rude to ask.]
'Tis no small feat to be granted an audience with Hela. I am certain Idunn only achieved it thanks to her friendship with Loki. That is not an asset I possess.

Don't worry, Brother. You shall know when I seek him from all the screaming.
So you can put words in my mouth, no doubt. If the old bastard truly is returned, I have quite a few things to say to him, and I sha’nt have you stopping me.

So you can put words in my mouth, no doubt. If the old bastard truly is returned, I have quite a few things to say to him, and I sha'nt have you stopping me.
So now I need my brother’s permission to speak to my father? And what does the King have to say about all of this?
[He did not know why Idunn had disobeyed, but he rather doubted it was for his sake. He had been dead at the time—he’d hardly cared. Still, he did not wish to speak of her.]

Ah. So this is Loki’s fault. Why am I not surprised? I suppose I can take consolation in the fact that for once the results of his schemes shall make him as miserable as the rest of us.
In any case, I can’t see why Odin would object. He’s not the one who killed me, after all.

Does nobody stay dead around here?

thirdsonofasgard replied to your post: H-Hoder?
May I speak with you concerning something of grave importance?
You’re not going to quit until I talk to you, are you?

I hope you're lying, again. There cannot be so many urgent matters in so short a span of time.

He traded his soul for Loki's. When he dies, he goes not to Valhalla, but to Hel.
[He sat silently for a moment.]
I do not know what to trade to get it back. There is little else to be traded for a life but another life, and that solves nothing. I still have most of the apples Idunn left with me when she ventured to Midgard, but I doubt Hela would accept them as payment a second time. I'm sure she only did the first in order to be rid of me. ... She takes after her father.
[Hoder stares glumly at his vodka, then, wishing he was drunker, downs the entire bottle.]
brotherofbalder asked:
I hardly think he’d give his left stone, Hoder! [He laughs but it trickles off awkwardly as he watches Hoder’s face.] What happened? What did he give?

[Hoder knows he should keep this to himself and yet... If nobody knows what has been done, how can he ever hope to undo it? Well, that's not entirely true. If anyone has an inkling of how to fix this between the two of them it iss Hoder. He is the one who had spent centuries as a ward of Hel, after all. When it comes down to it, it's just too terrible a secret for one man to bear on his own. He can always blame it on the drink. He is quite drunk. He licks his lips hesitantly before rasping his reply.]
He gave his soul.

You're a more optimistic man than I. [Hoder took another long pull of vodka and considered. Perhaps it was less optimism and more that Fandral did not know the whole story. Fandral had let his secret slip, in a moment of supreme drunkeness, but Hoder still held his. And he thought it more awful by far.]
It's not so much Loki I worry about. I expect a snake to bite. But Balder... You have no idea how far he has already gone for Loki. I dare not think what else he would willingly sacrifice.
brotherofbalder asked:
[He saw the unease his friend suffered.]
Aye, there is much I agree with. I too feel uneasy about all of it. There is a wall, it seems, that has been formed between us and them. ‘Tis strange, and unwelcome…but I suppose we can only gauge the true vulgarity of it on the time when Sigmund does not smile. Then we will have something to worry about. Then there will be bad days ahead.
Ah, but what would I know… [He takes a hearty swig, wetting his lips and half his chin in the process.]

Aye, quite literally. [He gives a rueful grin.] If there is any silver lining to this cloud, it is Sigmund. And yet... I worry for him. Norns only know how Loki could corrupt the child. He's already got his claws dug into my brother, and I'd just as soon not see my nephew suffer the same fate.
If anyone should have had his face smashed in, it's that snake. And yet the messenger is the one who is punished while even the King is content to ignore the one who did the deed. Maybe Balder sees it as protection, but... Loki's enemies are oft our allies. This time it was only a broken nose, but what if...
[He shook his head. Balder had already given his very soul for the bastard. There was nothing he would not do to see Loki safe. And that scared him more than anything.]
[He lowers the bottle slowly, looking at Hoder from the side.]
‘Tis nearly healed, I’d say. I am just glad that awful nasal accent is gone.
And yes, I hold no ill will towards the man, but I will say that I will avoid his fists for a good long while. And Balder is still Balder, merely with more to protect, no matter how vile the thing he is protecting.
And I do not mean Sigmund, I assure you, he is a ball of laughing light! [He says quickly, earnestly, for he does like the child.]

[He opens his won bottle of spirit and takes a few swigs. Yes, strawberry is better.]
I tried some, once. Jubilee brought it with her when she visited after the accident with Sigmund. I'm not quite sure how I would describe it... Sweet and...
[He shrugs.]
But that's not why I came here. How is your nose doing? I apologize for my twin. He has not been himself since... Well, long since before my return, if I read the situation rightly.
[Huffing a sigh, he stares into his bottle.]
brotherofbalder replied to your post: I come bearing spirits from Midgard! The Lady…
[Hoder had intended the apple for himself, but he simply shrugs and hands it over. Perhaps it is better, this way. Apples make him think of her.] Aye, they do! They have another drink they call soda. It fizzes like champagane and yet isn’t alocoholic
Aye, I have heard tale of this! [He opens the bottle after some difficulty and takes a large sip. To his delight, ‘tis flavored gloriously and he drinks until his throat burns.] The one called Hawkeye spoke of it. ‘Tis—‘Tis a bubbly, frothing thing. They say it is flavored water, or some such nonsense!
