Sirius Black is one of the most complex characters in the entire series and his complexity lies precisely in his ability to embody seemingly contradictory traits:
He can be 100% loyal and 100% independent at the same time
He gets people. Like, really gets them — their boundaries, their emotions, his emotional intelligence is incredibly high — and he knows exactly how to respect those boundaries, but he can also cut you down with words that hit exactly where it hurts
A very clear sense of what’s good and bad, but with very broad boundaries for the methods he can use to achieve that “good”
Total indifference to people’s adoration, but at the same time a deep-rooted belief that he’s not enough — he thinks he has to be useful to be loved
The ability to love deeply without the need to possess the person he loves
A kind and golden heart, but zero tolerance for pity — either for himself or for others. To pity means to demean. To pity means stripping a person of their dignity
He’s caring, but never overprotective. He thinks helping someone means giving them tools or knowledge — making them stronger and more capable, not weaker
He can be the life of the party or the biggest “grim” in the room, and everyone around him feels it
Very handsome, but he couldn’t care less about it
Attractive in every sense, almost magnetic, but also unapproachable
VERY proud, but it’s almost impossible to truly humiliate or offend him (Dumbledore, my love, I’m staring right at YOU. You’re the one who actually managed to humiliate him — and not just once, but over an entire year)
Hates his family. Loves his family
Hates being a Black. At the same time — the most Black Black
This fandom has no idea what they're missing when they reduce him to just an aggressive idiot or a soft clown and crybaby

Fanfic Writers: Director’s Cut
Reblog this if you want readers to come into your ask box and ask for the “director’s commentary” on a particular story, section of a story, or set of lines.
Or, send in a ⭐star⭐ to have the author select a section they’ve been dying to talk about!

I've been thinking about this little snippet from POA all day:
'Harry... I as good as killed them' [Sirius] croaked... 'I'm to blame I know it ... And when I saw their house, destroyed, and their bodies - I realised... What I'd done.' His voice broke. He turned away. 'Enough of this,' said Lupin, and there was a steely note in his voice Harry had never heard before.
Sirius is overcome with emotion, he breaks down and can't continue and so Remus steps in and takes control of the situation for him.
This is so much what I love about wolfstar - the care and protection of the other (not physical protection - though I have no doubt the would protect each other in a fight - but emotional protection). The way they match the other's weakness with their strength; step up and take action until the other is ready to join them again.
Because, although this is an example of Remus using his strength to compensate for Sirius's moment of weakness, you absolutely know that the ultra loyal, uber protective, literal guard dog that is Sirius Black does the exact same thing when the roles are reversed.
And I'm feral for it.
I'm feral for their compassion and gentleness with each other; the grace they show each other; the respect, and the strength that they lend to one another.
In this interaction - in all their interactions - they show themselves to be the pinnacle of positive masculinity.
They are like Medieval Chevaliers following the rules of Chivalry, except that the object of their faithful and unfailing courtly love is each other, rather than some lady fair.
They are like a combination of King Arthur's wisest and bravest Knights and the Sacred Band of Thebes.
Not perfect, not by any stretch, but good - kind and fair, loyal and loving, willing to forgive wrongs for those who are penitent (each other) but right them where necessary (murder Peter), who protect those who are weaker than them, which includes each other in certain moments, and whose love for each other gives them the strength to do what has to be done even when it is hard.
That is what canon wolfstar is - and I will never stop loving it.

💌 to all the fellow fic writers out there, please please please let 2025 be the year that you write the stories that you most want to write, not the stories that you feel like you have to because they will be more popular, or they're what's currently in trend for the fandom. The beauty of fanfic is that everyone works from the same starting point but spins together something that's wholly their own. People have preferences, of course, but there are no rights and wrongs. Your interpretations of a setting/character/relationship/trope/plot are worth writing. Create from love, not expectation!

looooove when i read a story that echoes my own experiences w sexual violence & then see a bunch of people getting really really angry abt it being "harmful representation" bc it doesn't fit neatly into Evil Perpetrator/Innocent Victim rubric. like damn if i wrote word for word my own experiences but said it was happening to fictional characters some of u people would burn me at the stake lol

unfortunately your dom daddy variant of the Character is chasing after a ping pong ball. yeah sorry he's crouched and sighing and peeking under the sofa and we're all so embarrassed for him. oh. he's found the ball and he's proudly holding it over his head expecting us to cheer. we're turning away it's too painful to watch. he shouldve either played better in the first place or not played at all. sorry yeah he will be put down at dawn

Papa Moony doodles
Remus would have been the gentlest dad :( He would have read his favourite books aloud and sung Kooks by David Bowie until his baby fell asleep. If he had not died for him, he would have loved him with all his heart.

emotional neglect didnt even affect me that much. it was the being born inherently without value that did most of the work
