All this is worded poorly because it's been so long and I'm at work but guys, Ainsley's not the "true" "prodigal son" because that's not how the story goes, the word doesn't derive from prodigy, the prodigal son is the one who has left, and returns after some absence, looking for his father's help even after leaving him, shunning him, and the father still welcomes him with love and open arms, whereas the sibling who has stayed by the father's side the whole time and has never been given the same kind of attention from him, despite being the one who truly follows in his footsteps, grows jealous...
Malcolm and Ainsley have always been playing right into their correct respective roles, even without realizing. Because it's about celebrating the one who has come back, who was lost but is now found. Malcolm ran from his past, from his father, from his name and Martin wants him, needs him back. But Ainsley... she embraced it, she never truly left.

7x05 will always be crazier than 7x04 to ME because of that loft scene. they were both inches away from being single. Buck had been dumped by a guy, he had just come out to Eddie and he was objectively single. Eddie was talking about hiding in Buck's loft with him so that he didn't have to go back home to his girlfriend who had moved in and possibly wanted to have sex. he was talking about breaking up with her. and they were both not too bothered by it, not really. they would have been fine. but then somehow they managed to convince each other to go try again in a relationship they both didn't actually be themselves in. they sent each other into relationships. and were both emotionally holding back in the relationships after that. and somehow they don't realize the power they hold over each other.

i haven't even talked about buck letting himself in to eddie's house with a pretty basket of baked goods cause he ran out of baking supplies at the loft so he went to his second home to use eddie's baking supplies instead and make them snickerdoodle and he blushed a pretty blush when eddie complimented him and then he saw eddie's tablet and in the flirtiest tone possible he was like i will respect your privacy no i won't we don't keep secrets from each other also I want to know what kind of porn you watch and then it all went to hell but like. i need to discuss how for that brief thirty seconds. buck was home
