Ooh it's so hard to narrow down music I like to listen to, but here's five (in no particular order):
Mon Esprit by Sweet Crude
Turn the Page by Blind Guardian
outer space vacation by Chelsea King
Hypocrite by Daisy Grenade
the kids aren't alright by Pinkshift
Thank you for the ask! <3

okay, now that I've slept and woken up with a "stayed up way too long" headache, here's a collection of my veilguard thoughts/screenshots below the readmore - as a warning this ended up being a little long
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My Rook! Logan Laidir (they/them), Spellblade Mage, Lords of Fortune background, and romanced Neve (I had initially thought perhaps Bellara but Neve stole my heart lmao)
POSITIVE
I meant what I said in my previous post - the finale arc was really, really well done in my personal opinion. It felt dramatic, it felt like my choices mattered, it felt like everything I had done up to that point made an impact (parts of it really reminded me of the suicide mission from me2)
I actually quite enjoyed the brief moment when Solas is in your party during the final arc
My sister and I had already predicted the Varric twist and I was prepared to sigh and put up with it, but I actually liked the final conversation with him a lot
Every Warden quest was a fucking BANGER. Weisshaupt reminded me of DA:O (and as a DA:O enjoyer I mean that in a positive way). Also justice for the Gloom Howler
Related, shout-out to Davrin for being the first companion I got to 10 bond, I always knew where I stood with him, just pick the brusque options and get that little "Davrin approves" in the corner
I was delighted by the hijinks music in Emmerich's various personal quests, 10/10, would sneak into an abandoned haunted manor again
I'm not as much as a film noir expert as my sister but I know enough about the genre to really enjoy Neve's content, everything about her dialogue felt VERY film noir (positive)
I really enjoyed all the companions; my Final Squad was Neve and Lucanis, and if anyone's curious, at least the way I spec'd everyone, Lucanis works REALLY well with a spellblade mage
I liked the new combat system, too - it felt very engaging, and I was never too bored with it (although I really settled into a rhythm of How I Liked To Play and whenever the game introduced a new weapon or armor I was like "no. only gear from the first 10 hours. leave me alone")
The view of the titan in the Anderfels mountains was BREATHTAKING. I wish there had been 10+ hours of additional content just for Titan/Dwarf/Kal Sharok alone
I liked that top surgery scars were separate from other scars - I had thought I'd have to pick between those and other scars, but no! My pirate got top surgery AND has seen some combat and I was very tickled by that. Also I did feel a little surge of joy whenever my Rook was referred to as they/them, thank you writers, and that I got to play a character that was trans On Purpose
I got really attached to a lot of the non-companion NPCs, too (standouts including Antoine and Evka, Rowan and the Spirit of Compassion, Jacobus, Tarquin, and I know she's a merchant and only has ambient dialogue but Lorelei Shadow Dragons I Would Kill And Die For You)
Lower down I'll list the things I didn't like, but I want to stress that I enjoyed the game enough that I'm immediately going to play it again
NEUTRAL
There were a few music standouts (Emmerich's personal quest music, Ghilan'nain's fight music, a few moments in the Crows storyline) that I really liked, but I was pretty neutral on the scoring across the board. It was fine! Just Fine. I felt like my brain lit UP whenever a motif from Inquisition was reintroduced (fun fact, if you want me to have an INSTANT emotional reaction, play the DA:O home screen music in my presence)
I would like to know what the approval/disapproval changes actually do - my theory is that they work as like, a multiplier to how much bond you get in a quest, but I don't know for sure, and there was no place that I noticed in the UI to see if it "did" anything (sorry if there was a really obvious place to see it that I just completely missed in my 105 hours of gameplay lmao)
By god you've either got freckles OR you have age lines, and never shall the two meet
I used the Urthemiel's Ash elemental orb for almost THE entire game, and made a point of taking it to the finale - that's for you, HoF, wherever you are
I was on the phone with my sister when my Rook met the Viper and I said out loud "hi Mister Voiced By Matthew Mercer, I know you need to talk to me but I need to pet the dog behind you," which isn't really relevant to anything but I thought it was funny
NEGATIVE
I felt emotional at the good-bye to Varric, but I have the history of playing two other games that he's a major character in; if you're a new player, I don't think it would be nearly as impactful
I mentioned how much I liked that choices mattered in the last arc; I wish that the entire game had felt that way. One of the things I said to my sister when I was nearing the end of Act 1 was that it didn't really feel like an RPG at all - or at least, not a Bioware RPG; this isn't a proper review and I'm just a fan, not a game developer, so this is just speculation from a place of no experience, but I think that might be indicative of the development hell this game went through before release
I miss pestering the companions with questions at the/a home base; it felt like they talked to each other more than with the PC, which didn't detract from my enjoyment of each of the characters, but did add to what I said above (that this didn't feel like a Bioware RPG)
Regretfully I have to agree with the critiques that said that some of the dialogue felt very carefully chosen modern therapy-speak, and a lot of it was also pretty clunky (like the conversation immediately after Weisshaupt, which was a bummer, because as I said above, the Weisshaupt quest was a BANGER). I think the dialogue could have cooked through a few more rounds of edits but (again) I am not a professional so that's just my impression
I mentioned above that I wished there had been more Titans/Dwarf content, but honestly I wished we had a little more for all of the factions/groups/companions across the board. I'm not a good judge of how long things are, but I finished the game in my main playthrough in 95 hours (I've played a little bit with a second Rook); I think I would've been happier with enough content to make that a 120 hour playthough to finish, if that makes any sense? I don't think I'm describing that quite right.
Basically I feel like if there had been a bit more content and the writing had been a little tighter, this game would have emotionally devastated me lmao
As a non-binary trans person, I wish I had enjoyed Taash's storyline more. I liked that there WAS that storyline, but it felt a little clunky and awkward, and I'm not going to talk about it much more because I know the Dudebros have been tearing this game to shreds for daring to include them at all as a character and I don't want to contribute to that
I am side-eyeing all the interviews where the writers said "we don't want to invalidate your past choices [in previous games]" and decided the way to do that was to completely annihilate southern Thedas. Like I guess that IS a way to not invalidate things, but, lol. Lmao, even.
I know this has been talked about to death but I still think it was a bad decision to have two out of the three total possible carryover options from the previous games to be tied to a DLC (and if you're wondering, I thought it was a bad decision in Inquisition for the Big Bad Red Herring to be from one of DA2's DLC as well)
Yes, I got the secret post-credits ending, and no, I did not care for it much. I did enjoy that it used the Keep art style, but that was it.
