Well hello there
Hi… How are you? So, it’s been awhile. I’m ashamed to say it…. but it’s been over a year since I last wrote on my blog. And it’s a real shame because this past year has been the best of my life. But maybe that’s why I didn’t write, maybe I was too busy just soaking in the memories. Or maybe I was just so stressed that I had zero space in my mind for even the thought of writing. Whatever my excuse, I’m back! And I’m SO excited to transform this place into some place new again, some place where I can write from a totally new perspective… as a Mom.
Before I rush into that though, there is a lot that happened before my new status of “Mom to Be”. Let’s rewind to where everything started changing, January 18th, 2016, my 27th birthday. Jevan drove me around for a day of fun activities and doing the RAK we like to do (Check out my blog post here if you don’t know what I mean). We started the day by going out to breakfast at the place where we first met, Sugar n' Spice. While Sugar n'Spice is known for its good food, it's even more well known for giving its guest little rubber ducks after your meal. Adorable, right?
On this sunny January morning, we were just finishing up our breakfast when the waitress brought around the bin of rubber ducks for us to pick from. As I was digging around in the bin, looking for the perfect duck, Jevan quietly pulled out two ducks and sat them on top of the rest. A tiny bride and groom duck greeted me as Jevan said, "Won't these look good on our wedding cake?"
He stood up from the diner booth and got down on one knee as he proposed! I said yes and the whole restaurant cheered! The best birthday gift I've ever gotten :)
As you can imagine, the wedding planning quickly begun and we picked a date for June 25th, 2016. I won’t bore you with the wedding planning drama or the stressful moments leading up to the big day, but I can tell you that this was a very DIY wedding. And I loved it. Even with the added stress and worry of pulling everything together, it was the wedding of my dreams, with the man of my dreams! We really wouldn’t have been able to make it happen without the support and help from friends and family.
So on a sunny, beautiful June day on a farm in the middle of Ohio, we got married. We wrote our vows and spoke them to each other in an open field, underneath an arch the Jevan made himself. We danced and ate pie in a lovely decorated barn with the sunlight streaming through the cracks. Jevan stood up in front of everyone and sang to me and then we kissed some more. We released paper lanterns into the sky surrounded by loved ones and finally made our grand exit with a tunnel of sparklers. It was perfect. We couldn’t have wanted anything else.
We travelled to Hawaii for our honeymoon to the island of Kauai. We stayed in a small cabin in the Waimea Canyon, away from pretty much everyone, and it was beyond great. Jevan made me a fire in our wood burning stove every morning and night, and we would wake up early to hike the beautiful mountains.
I am blessed to be able to call this man my husband. I plan to write some much more detailed posts about each of these HUGE life events, but I want to get to where we are today.
A few months from returning home from our honeymoon, we got another big surprise. I am pregnant! We are going to be parents! Our little girl is due April 9th, 2017. I am currently 28 weeks pregnant and we are rushing around to get the nursery ready, and ourselves ready!
The wonder and excitement has already taken over, as well as panic and prep, but we are about to embark in our biggest adventure together. Raising a family. So I hope you stick around and find some amusement as we experience becoming parents while trying to juggle life.
