honestly, the radicalizing event that made me ditch faux-ironic detachment is when I sent a hard-to-write sentimental message to someone I was (at the time) close with, and they sent the vomiting emoji back. it was like oh okay, that sucks. I am now of the opinion that it is 100x cooler and braver to be sappy with the people you care about.

i don't wanna sound hopeless but i feel like so many of you don't care or have stopped caring about palestine.
the news of hospitals being bombed, children being massacred, people dying from the cold, and the famine spreading in gaza does not seem enough to grab attention or make people care.
what new tragedy needs to befall gaza for you to start talking about it? the occupation kills a child every few minutes. people are cold and are starving. refugee camps are being bombed with bombs that can level city blocks.
this all happens because of all of us. we are complicit in this genocide because our governments use the taxes we pay to send weapons to the occupation. weapons that are used to kill children and impose a blockade that is starving 2 million people.
the very fact that we're still going about our days when all of this is going on breaks my heart. especially because we have failed to stop our governments from using our money to arm israel.
i urge you, please be generous and donate to suad and her baby khaled. he is just six months old and suad is unable to find any formula for him. if she finds anything, it is extremely expensive. the baby also needs warm clothes and is suffering from a respiratory problem and needs a nebulizer.
@suad-khaled has been verified [#279]
please help suad and her baby boy

I straight up do not trust you if you did not enjoy a single book you had to read for English class. I know they assigned some real stuffy stinkers and the curriculum varies across districts but not one? Not The Outsiders? Not The Picture of Dorian Gray? Not Fahrenheit 451? Not even Frankenstein? Damn. That’s crazy.

#and then when someone does genuinely rebel/revolt/resist they frown and shake their heads and say “well you shouldn't've broken the law..."#it's just crazy to be like “i'm a rebel 😈” while also believing that legality = morality

Here's a mastiff completing the agility trial at a dog show.
The excited cheers of the crowd as this drool monster begrudgingly jumps, has made my 2025 already.

fuck everyone who's started saying the r slur again i hate you and i hope your life falls apart and you die alone
#another thing that makes me want to scream and/or punch people: how people will like. use the slur but alter the word slightly#so instead of saying [slur] they'll just say [sl ur] or [sloor] or something#like. please understand that it's not that exact combination of letters that is the problem#it's the origin. it's the meaning. it's the context. it's the intention.#if you're using “restarted” or “acoustic” or whatever as an insult. you're essentially using a fucking slur!!#just because you're swapping out the slur with a similar-sounding but seemingly mundane word doesn't make it better#you're still being horribly ableist#even though you're not saying The Slur *exactly* you're still invoking it and all the horribleness that goes with it#and while i do think that's sort of linguistically fascinating it's mostly just gross and upsetting#because it shows how performative people are being about it#“oh i won't say the r-slur anymore that's a slur but i am comfortable trading out letters to say the exact same thing!”#very disappointing.

If anyone remembers the old story about how male prisoners were found to be calmed when their cells were painted pink; (oft cited to prove that the color pink has a calming effect on men) apparently this research was replicated with other paint colors and it was found that any color of paint has the same effect, including painting the walls the same color that they were before. As it turns out, you have to clean in order to paint, and people are happier when their environment has been recently cleaned. The obvious takeway is that correlation does not equal causation, but the even MORE obvious takeaway is the many times proved but seldom acknowledged law that one should never attempt to extrapolate general principles out of studies done in a prison

As someone with violent and even homicidal ideation, I think the choices people make are far more indicative of their moral character than anything else.
Thoughts mean nothing. Thoughtcrimes don't exist, especially because what we think is out of our control. If you're not running around hurting people or advocating for others hurting people, then you're fine. For the love of fuck stop stigmatizing mental illnesses and and the unsavory symptoms some of them tend to have.
People can't help it whether they have intrusive thoughts or even fantasize about violence. It doesn't mean we're going to do it. I'm not going to apologize for my symptoms nor does someone finding them off-putting give them a license to be ableist/sanist about it.

bad news, euclid fans! i just disproved his assertation that parallel lines don't intersect for their entire infinite length. i walked along them for approximately 8.6 x 10⁸ km and you know what i found? that's right, a tangle.
they don't touch for the rest of their infinite length though, i did check. in both directions.
#i know this is a silly lil post and all but for whatever reason it makes me weirdly emotional#posts i like and want to keep track of
