guppy got a nice bath and blowout yesterday at the grooming shop. i wanted to have his nails done as well (he fidgets so much that i can’t get them by myself), but we were too busy :/ he smells great though!

A little before and after of Max’s tidy up that I did. For his face I used thinning shears on his overhanging bangs, a bit around his nose, and his chin, then trimmed up the hair that likes to stick into his mouth. He did a lot better with nails (with the help of a ton of cat treats) and only tried to mouth my hand once while I was moving him back into position, rather than the constant growling and mouthing that happened when I did his nails a couple weeks ago.

Here’s his feet before and after i cleaned them up with some curved shears. He was very very tolerant of his feet being handled the day I did this and had a nice floor swimming session on the couch once we were all done.

before & after pics of max’s groom! he’s definitely more naked than i’m used to….. i still like how he looks though. he did a great job with the clippers and scissors, but his nails were a bit of a struggle. he ended up nipping my hand while i was holding him for his nails, which i expected, but at least we got them done. he did so well considering he’s never been professionally groomed before and i’m super proud of him!

i’m taking max into my grooming class today to practice. unfortunately i think telling him this has unlocked his natural instinct to dig about 5 holes in the dirt and get himself extra grimy beforehand. i’ll post an update once he’s all done with his groom

hello! for now this will serve as an introductory post for me and my dogs as i start using this blog more.

i’ll introduce max first, because i’ve had him for the longest.

we adopted max in 2017 after originally getting him for my grandma who had been asking about getting another dog for a while. he was a year old at the time that we got him, and my grandma ended up not wanting to keep him, so we took him in with plans to rehome him. long story short we ended up falling in love with him and officially declaring him as our own spunky little guy. he’s some kind of terrier mix (we think yorkie/chihuahua or something), is now about 6 years old, and is looking handsome as ever.

this is guppy who’s a japanese chin. we got him in 2020 (pandemic puppy moment) and drove 18 hours to and from the place that we picked him up from. he’s the baby of the family and i think that he knows it. he’s 2 years old now and still doesn’t understand how to sit on command, but we love him regardless.

now i guess i’ll introduce myself by some of the things i enjoy

i’m rachel and i like:

-any and all art/crafting activities

-the band rainbow kitten surprise

-the mountains & the beach especially

-crocheting sweaters for my dogs

-spending time in nature

-cheese!!!! (white person moment)

-dressing comfortably

i’ve followed a lot of dog/cat/reptile accounts on here for years and they bring me so much joy that i thought it would be fun to start documenting my animals and maybe giving other people something to enjoy.
