Everything shot with a tilt shift lens makes you think of worlds inhabited by little dolls and teddy bears. This picture is more realistic though, and reminds of Bradford-on-Avon a little, with its canals and little boats floating on the calm waters.

Bloso Outdoor is a now abandoned outdoor sports facility near the Belgium village Hofstade.  The Bloso outdoor pool was the largest of its contemporaries, with impressive 50m x 100m by 1.6m measurements. It was designed by Charles Van Nueten in 1939. The building boasts characteristic glazed brick and horseshoe cafeteria on the pillars. The original flat roofs that covered the buildings on both sides of the pool were replaced with sloped zinc roofs in 1957. Even after the renewal of the filtration system in 1955, the pool had to be closed in 1978 as it did not comply with the health and safety standards of the time. Now it is abandoned, as many other facilities and buildings in the area, and the paysage might inspire thoughts about some post-apocalyptic universe: it is easy to imagine that the place was once inhabited by human refugees in the era of the alien invasion or a zombie apocalypse...

Battleship island in Japan. The island housed many times more people than it probably should have and managed it by putting the tenants in extremely tight and crowded apartments shown above. The entire island is abandoned at the moment, and access to the general public is restricted.
Trying to make the most of small spaces is a current trend which spread to Europe from Asia with its growing population, but this apartment complex seems to have pushed living standards to the extremes, resembling an ant hill with insect-like people being parts of a bigger organism. Is it the future predicted for all of us?

A focus shot from the top of Gravity Bar in the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin.
The top of the Guinness Storehouse boasts impressive 360 degree panoramic views of the vibrant city of Dublin, as well as the surrounding factories used for brewing and manufacturing the famous Irish dry Stout.

Kolmanskop is a deserted ghost town in Namibia. Abandoned after the rush for mining diamonds ran dry in the 1990s, it is now a popular tourist destination for those interested in the empty tranquility of the preserved township.

Great piece from Anna Filipova dealing with the co-existence of industry and nature. Should we celebrate these new artificial landscapes in which we have transformed?
Anna Filipova - “The focus of this project was to create images of the geothermal industrial landscape and to show the co-existence of industry and nature.
Icelanders are world leaders in the use of geothermal energy for domestic and industrial purposes. It makes up 66% of the country’s primary energy usage. This pioneering use of natural energy sources has made theirs one of the cleanest environments in the world.
Iceland is one of the most tectonically active places on Earth, resulting in a large number of volcanoes and hot springs serving as infinite and sustainable energy sources.
Though geothermal energy provides a cleaner choice for energy production, it transforms the otherwise wild landscape into one of development and human dominance.
The extraction of geothermal energy is transforming the rural landscape. In this way, nature is shaped by industry. This project documents this transformation and tries to show the grace and beauty within these new artificial landscapes.”
