Bahrain International Circuit - Everything You Need to Know
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here we go with round 4 of the 2025 Formula one season!
The track was built December of 2002, designed by Hermann Tilke. Much like the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, developers had a large blank, sandy canvas. (read here about Sakhir)
The first GP held here at Bahrain International was in 2004, where Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher claimed victory in the 57-lap race.
This circuit is 5.412km long with a total race distance of 308.238km over the total 57 laps.
Current lap record was set by Pedro de la Rosa in 2005 with 1:31.447
We can usually expect fantastic racing and a reasonable number of overtakes. Driver have to fight against the wind, contend with racing under floodlights and the difficulty of finding a decent set-up with the temperature fluctuations between sessions.
There's a difficult point on the track at the tight, downhill turn 10 left hander, where drivers quickly have to bring the car back to life in time for the fast run through turn 12.

Sakhir, Bahrain
193 word fact file on Sakhir!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sakhir is a desert area in the Southern Governorate of Bahrain.
The term "Sakhir desert" can be a bit ambiguous. While Sakhir is a desert area in Southern Bahrain, it's not a large, well defined desert like the Sahara. Sakhir is more of a specific location within a larger, general desert landscape.
There's no specific size given for the "Sakhir desert" as it's not a named desert region. Therefore, there isn't an awful lot to know about Sakhir.
Sakhir is known for it's landscape. Characterized by rolling sand dunes and expansive vistas, the landscape offers a serene and picturesque look.
There is a unique acacia tree standing alone in the desert. Despite the lack of known water sources, it has become a popular tourist attraction.
Al-Sakhir Palace is a historic palace built in 1870, still used now for important occasions. (see image below)

Bahrain International Circuit is a very popular motorsport circuit designed by Hermann Tilke. Read about it here.
During winter months, it is popular for people to camp or go picnicking. A stunning sunset is also shown during this time!
Bahrain tends to have an extremely hot summer and a relatively mild winter!
