I was fine for the whole saga. I was fine. But then the Just A Man motif came at me with a steel chair after Penelope's part because she brought the man back from the monster and next thing i knew i was crying in my car.

I want to point out how the final fight in Epic is not in song 38 but song 40.

How after Odysseus became "the monster" he then, was the last boss to fight

And Penelope fights him.

Because she fights for her husband, for the man beyond the trauma, for the man WITH the trauma, for the man she will always love and will wait forever if necessary.

She makes him angry, he gets furious and Penelope is the only character so far who matches that fury and tames it.

And Penelope wins.

She defeats the "monster".

And all it's left... it's just a man. Her man.

hey so i Fully Believe that telemachus was not afraid of odysseus in Hold Them Down

people may have told him stories of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, Athena's chosen Champion, Hero of Troy

but mama's boy telemachus sat by her feet as she wove tapestry after tapestry; and penelope told her little wolf stories of his father

how they met, how he tripped over himself to woo her, how he cried his eyes out when penelope became pregnant, how telemachus wouldn't sleep in his cot as a baby because he was so used to being in his father's arms because odysseus would not put him down; and yes, how viciously he defended their family when the atrides came to retrieve him for the war

telemachus? the child of the Unhinged Power Couple? who knew very well how horrible those suitors were, how they treated him and spoke of his mother?

took one look at his dad viciously protecting their home, their family, and thought he was the coolest, strongest person ever (after mom ofc)

Actually going insane over all the melodic motifs in the Ithaca Saga because what do you mean "keep your head down, he's aiming for the torches" is sung the same way as "keep your friends close and your enemies closer", what do you mean Odysseus's name is sung in the danger motif the same way Polyphemus's was, what do you mean the danger motif plays when Penelope asks Odysseus to move the bed, what do you mean Athena's motif mixes with Legendary when Telemachus arrives, what do you mean an instrumental of Little Wolf plays when he fights the suitors, what do you MEAN-

I really liked trying to figure out a way to implement some Athena and Odysseus elements on his design while still keeping the Telemachus silhouette. But I'm very satisfied with how he looks! Kinda makes me want to make an animatic for Odysseus, but I probably won't

when you realize the song is called "the challenge" bc not only is it about penelope's challenge for the suitors, but it also describes penelopes hardships and how hard shes been fighting to keep the kingdom running and the suitors at bay while waiting for odysseus to come home

It is so special to me how Telemachus views himself as far weaker than his father, citing the stories of Odysseus he's heard and how he's nowhere as good a fighter as him and how he wishes he could be one BUT THE MOMENT ODYSSEUS SEES HIM he mentions how strong Telemachus must have been to endure the past twenty years. His father sees the strength in him Telemachus can't.
