Bookish Rant Time! 

So last year I read a series of books. They were all standalones, but part of a shared world. I read these books out of order, because I was an ARC reader for one of the authors. But once I read the first two, I noticed something. A character’s name was completely different in the first book. This character was the main MC in the second book, but was mentioned throughout the first book as he was the brother of the main FMC. In the last book in the series, when all the characters get together, the character is mentioned twice, once by the right name, and once by the wrong name. 

As an ARC and Beta reader, I know the authors like being told about errors. So I reached out to the three authors respectively, right around the time the books were published. The errors were never changed. Now there are special editions and audiobooks being released with the errors. Do I want to purchase the special editions? Yes, of course. I loved the world. But do I want to spend money on the books/audiobooks when I know there are blatant errors? 

What annoys me most of all is that the authors literally don’t seem to care. You’re changing a whole character, and it’s annoying.
