Of Ymir's flesh the earth was fashioned,And of his sweat the sea;Crags of his bones, trees of his hair,And of his skull the sky. Then of his brows the blithe gods madeMidgard for sons of men;And of his brain the bitter-moodedClouds were all created.

@thorslovex spoke: "Grandpa! What are you doing? Can I help?" (from baby Torunn!)
He is there, standing before his balcony. Although he can often be seen as cold or distant, but the father Odinn -- as welll as the grandfather -- enjoys immensely being with his family. The god turns on his heels to look down at his granddaughter, the small thunderer. He is, in fact, merely thinking, as he often is. “Come here, I’ll show you”.
The god leans down and picks up Torunn. It brings him back to the days when he could do it to his children. Odinn brings her up to her chest. He moves slightly away from the edge, but the sight is still there: Asgard, shining brightly, the Realm Eternal. “I am thinking about what I can do to make our home better”, he says, smiling. “What do you think will make it better, my dearest?”

The one eyed god eats silently, the table before him bountifully set with bread, meats and mead. He hardly ever stares around, knowing the full effect his presence causes on most. And he is often lost in thought, locked within his mind as issues and solutions present themselves one after the other. He needs to deal with all of them, which occupies enough of his time.
Still, he is not unaware of his surroundings. He cannot be.
The god of many names raises his head and offers his guest a polite nod, his face not featuring a smile, but his demeanor is one of acceptance, as he hardly shows such face expression. "There is plenty of room here, if you wish."

Hugging her wolf plushie close to her chest, Loki stopped quietly in the doorway to watch him. She was still trying to get used to all this - the big house, the big family, actually seeing it all for more than a few hours at a time. Still trying to wrap her eight-year-old mind around her mother being gone, her father taking her in and everything that entailed.
“Um…” She hadn’t expected him to notice her so quickly; had she still wanted him to? She wasn’t sure. Holding the plush a little tighter, she slowly walked over to the counter. “I don’t know….” Her gaze followed his fingers rather than meet his. It was easier. “I…had a nightmare. ‘Couldn’t get back to sleep.”
He could tell by her demeanor that something was not right. It was to be expected if he was being honest. And Odin did not enjoy it, of course. But he can’t put the cart before the ox. He knows he has to give Loki time for her to naturally come about her new situation. To press her wouldn’t help. Placing the cutlery on the counter, he walks around it and pulls a chair. “Come, sit. I’ll make you something”, he states, trying to keep a light, welcoming tone.
“A nightmare? What about?”, he asks, returning to the chopping of the tomatoes. “Do you want some pancakes?”, he is quick to add. The batter was already done, knowing well her siblings liked to have that for breakfast.

Casual reminder that: Odinn does not feel good about what he had to do to Loki's children with Angrboda, but that he did it for what he thought was the best for all realms.
#now what he did to Loki's children with Sigyn was 200% out of rage and that he enjoyed it because he was truly beyond caring#thank you for coming to my TEDtalk k

How lucky, how blessed she is to have a husband like him. A King, yes; but he so much more, isn’t he? Kind and wise and loving. Spoiling her since the day they met. She can only hope to return the spoiling. Hope that he knows how deeply and extraordinarily she loves him.
❝ Better.. ❞ She hums, eyes opening just slightly to peek down at him. The sweet relief his touch is bringing draws another sigh from her lips. Shoulders falling further as her aching body relaxes. Their child will be worth all this discomfort. She has no doubt of that. Frigg absolutely adores each of her husband’s children. Each so unique and wondrous. But this child, the one kicking her stomach and causing her swollen feet, will be so very loved.
Another sigh, eyes closed again. ❝ Much better… thank you. ❞ Her hand extends, beckoning him back to her. It is all she can manage, nearly trapped beneath her protruding belly.
Odinn knows he is not perfect in any aspect of his life: he has tried to do his best in all of them, but having so many duties and playing so many roles, he is bound to fail. He knows he is not an exemplary husband, having fathered children out of wedlock. But he is devoted to Frigg. And ever since marrying her, he has not wished for anything more than her. Now, carrying their child, he is thankful to the Nornir that the uneven road of his life led him here, to her.
It takes nothing more than her beckoning him for the Allfather to gladly comply. Before standing fully, Odinn places a kiss on top of her swollen belly. “Shall I carry you to bed, my love?”, he asks, standing beside her chair, his hand on her shoulder. He can only imagine how much she goes through daily, and he is willing to aid her whichever way he can.

There’s no hesitation when she reaches up to grasp his offered hand. It was a slow process but she was finally learning she had nothing to fear from her father’s touch. Her little fingers hold on tight, not wanting to be parted.
She starts to nod before thinking better of the plan. “Is-is that okay?” The question is whispered in the conspiring tone only an uncertain child can conjure. She highly respected the sanctity of private spaces.
Each child is unique. His daughter is no exception. But his sons differ from her greatly. He cares and loves all of them equally, but the Allfather knows Laerke’s needs are unlike her siblings. Nonetheless, having always wanted a daughter, Odinn is willing to do whatever it takes to make her feel at ease here, with her family.
He walks slowly for her to be able to keep up, holding her tiny hand securely on his own. He smiles, nodding at the innocent question. “Of course it is, Laerke, my dear”, he replies warmly. “Your mother and I will always welcome you there”, he reassures. He cannot count how many times the energetic children have busted through those doors with less care than Laerke, only to be greeted warmly by his wife.
