Thoughts on LITG Matchmaker

Posted this on the Fusebox subreddit here if you’d like to upvote/comment, but thought I’d share my thoughts on tumblr as well.

Don’t download it. Don’t play it. Definitely don’t spend money on it.

I know it’s tempting, but just don’t - unless you really like match-3 games and don’t mind a diluted version of the same content you’ve already played.

If you download it, FB will see how many people have downloaded the app. If you play it, you’ll be watching ads, and Fusebox will earn ad revenue.

Money talks, and the only way to get Fusebox to understand that we want full seasons of LITG content (the game we’re really here for) is to boycott Matchmaker and just not give them what they want.

Look at all the time and hard work that was poured into LITG. Even if we don’t like S3 or different aspects of the other seasons, we still recognize that a lot of hard work was put into it, and the people who worked on it have been treated unfairly by Fusebox. They’ve been laid off, and the work they’ve done - the art, the characters, the story - has been outsourced and turned into a stripped-down version that forces you to play a bunch of puzzles just for a few lines of dialogue. All so that Fusebox can spend less and earn more.

The regular game is what made this fandom what it is. We get angry at it, but we still replay it over and over. We discuss it, we tell others about it, we write fanfiction about it, we bond with others over it. Do you think we’re gonna be doing that for matchmaker? No. If Fusebox doesn’t create more real content, this fandom will die. The game has its issues - lots of them - but it was unique for its replayability. The characters are what make the game, and that’s just not going to be compelling enough in a match-3 game.

So delete Matchmaker. Go back to the real game and replay S1, S2, CMM, even S3. Let’s show Fusebox what we want, since they won’t listen to our complaints.

this is said to be info directly from employees that worked at fusebox, and with the recent lay offs and lack of communication, might be able to provide some context for what’s going on at the company. saying “things aren’t great” is an understatement

What even is Marisol? Let me explain, she’s a “Spanish” girl, but where does her family originate? There’s a comment about salsa being too stereotypical for a Spanish girl, but salsa originated from Cuba and was developed by Puerto Ricans, which would make her one of those, right? But they refer to her as Spanish instead, so is she from Spain? She makes tortilla de patatas on day three, which is a Spanish food. I’m just going to assume she’s Spanish and the salsa line was just a mix-up, but that really mixed me up.
