jsyk yes i do ship zuko/jin...but kinda one-sided? idk i dont think zuko at the time was emotionally and mentally ready for a gf in the sense that he still had to deal with so much trauma and internal battles, and even post canon he has so much stuff to sort out as fire lord. so onesided jin/zuko is DEF my cup of tea :)

little tidbits about jin

it is stated as canon that she is a refugee along with her family, and most likely came from one of the earth kindom towns that were occupied by the fire nation during the war.

jin's family consists of her four younger siblings and her mother. her village, located in the border with the fire nation, was burned down by its soldiers to draw out the families so they could occupy the territory and make a military base. this forced jin and her mother and siblings to flee to ba sing se as refugees.

jin's father died during the fire nation invasion to their village.

at the time when jin meets zuko at the tea shop, she is 17 years old.

jin keeps a rope bracelet with a ba sing se coin as a charm on her right hand which belonged to her father. a week before he died, he gave it to jin and made her promise she'd take her mother and siblings to ba sing se if he failed to do so.

her entire family is made out of non-benders.

because they are refugees and technically indocumented citizens of ba sing se, they are often mistreated by the authorities, who sent them to live under deplorable conditions in the lower ring, where food and work were scarce. many children died of malnutrition the first months there.

jin makes a habit of bringing food from the tea shop to her siblings and other kids in the lower ring, that she purchases working as a laundress for various wealthy families of ba sing se.
