Date Night

Pairing: Josh Franceshi and Oli Sykes

Date: 6-30-2020

Josh and Oli are in high school, the school year just ended and the couple want to start the summer off right by spending the whole day together.

Oli’s POV

I couldn’t be more excited for today, it was the final day of school and I could start the summer. Finally. I feel like this school year has gone on for far longer than just 9 months! More like 9 years. Even all my friends agreed with me on it! I just wanted to lay in bed all day long and not worry about homework from my teachers for the next couple of weeks, it was nice honestly, just being away from everyone once in a while. I was happy to get a break from all my friends though, too. But not Josh, god, never Josh.

I don’t think I could ever get sick of him! He is just so charming and sweet to me, he likes the same music, we go to shows together, I couldn't ask for anyone better really. If I did I would just be plain selfish. He did so much for me, I felt bad half the time because I didn’t have a job quite yet to be able to get him things like he got me all the time but in a few months I would be old enough. Even though he always tells me not to worry about it, that it’s completely okay. He says it because he just loves spoiling me, and everyone really.

I wanted to do something nice for him to kick off the summer but I couldn’t think of anything, Josh was very.. iffy about accepting things from people. All he wanted was to give people things, but he especially liked getting me things. Half the clothes I wore was just random things Josh would show up with at my door. Once someone told me I took advantage of Josh but they didn’t understand I never actually asked for anything from Josh, ever. But I could never say no to his cute face, he just looked so bubbly and happy to be making others happy as well.

I was waiting by Josh’s locker, he was saying goodbye to his friends before coming this way, he always did. I jumped when I felt arms wrap around my torso, immediately recognizing the strong strawberry smell radiating off of my best friend, Kellin. He always wore his sisters perfume, sense Vic said he liked it he always wore it for him. I swear he was more head over heals for that boy than I am for Josh, and they're not even together! Plus I like Josh, a lot. “Hey Liv! Can you believe it’s summer already? I’m so excited!” I watched Kellin squeal, he was always so hyper.

“Yes, I’m super excited. I get to spend time with Josh all summer hopefully.” I laughed, hugging myself.

“I hope I see Vic before he leaves, I think I’m going to ask him out today, I mean, yeah, I’m gonna do it today.”

I looked at my friend with wide eyes, he was never very confident in himself, so hearing this surprised me. I always assumed he was just waiting for Vic to ask him out, but it made sense him not wanting to wait any longer to go out with the older one. He was friends with Josh actually, not very close, but friends at the least. They were in the same grade, just like me and Kellin. Me and Kellin were going to be juniors when we come back to school in the fall, Josh and Vic seniors. “I just don’t know how I want to though, weather if I should just play it cool, or ask to hang out then ask him there, or to just-” I rolled my eyes, cutting him off.

“Just tell him you wanna go out, don’t overload him with telling how ever sense he said ‘nice shirt, that band is awesome’ you’ve been swooning over him. That’ll definitely not score you a date with him. At all.” I grinned, nudging him with my elbow slightly.

Kellin sighed, rolling his eyes at me before smiling. “Yeah, yeah, yeah, but hen he says yes to going out I am totally telling him.” He laughed.

“When?” I raided my eyebrows at him, wondering where this confidence came from.

“Duh! Who could say no to this?” He panned his hands up and down his body, he knew he looked great in skinny jeans, he always used it to his advantage.

I placed my hands on his shoulders, turning him around to show him the small group of boys over in the corner, heading towards us. In that group held my oh so perfect Josh, Vic, Ben, and Matty. Kellin tensed up at the sight of his crush, glancing back at me with a scared look. There my Kellin was. “Go talk to him, Kells.” I whispered in his ear, shoving him slightly towards the Mexican he thirsted for. Josh shot me a look, raising an eyebrow at my weird movements. All I did was shrug at him as the rest of his friends parted ways except for Vic who was currently flushing and talking to Kellin.

“Playing matchmaker, are we?” Josh smirked, wrapping his arm around my shoulders.

“Not exactly, Kellin wanted to ask Vic out anyways, he just needed a small shove in the right direction. Literally.” I laughed, leaning up to peck him on his cheek.

He made a noise in agreement, nodding along to what I said. He didn’t like speaking up a lot of the time, or in large crowds of people, but he could never shut up when he was around me or his friends. He could just ramble on and on about the cutest things. Once he rambled on about some TV show he saw a few minutes of before falling asleep, talking about how those few moments were the best moments of his life, explaining what happened with so much detail. I loved teasing him about it still, even though he tries to play it off as he doesn’t remember that night. He so does. “How about we go back to my house, get changed, then go out somewhere?” Josh grabbed my hand, starting to drag me out of the school building before I could say anything.

“Joosh! Let me take you somewhere this time!” I whined, even though I had no idea where I could take him, I just wanted to take him somewhere instead of him taking me this time.

Josh just rolled his eyes, shaking his head at me. I pouted at him as he laced our hands together, walking towards his house sense it was closest and the fact his parents had an extra car that we totally didn’t use all the time. Totally. “Just let me take you to this place then we can go where you wanna take me, like a blind date, but instead it’s us and we know who our partner is.” He rambled, looking ahead of us, just zoning out with his own words.

I laughed, just shaking my head at how goofy he acted sometimes. He didn’t live very far from the school thankfully, getting there within a few minutes. I ran up to his room, needing to get out of this bloody uniform before I lost my mind. I kept a lot of my clothes at his, and Josh doing the same with his at mines. I could hear him following up the steps as I was looking through his closet for a jacket of his to wear, I preferred a flannel, he always wore them, making them smell like him more which made me super happy. I grabbed it, pulling out a random band t-shirt of mine as well. Slipping it off and pulling the other clothes on, sighing as it messed up my straightened air.

Once we both got changed though, Josh wearing almost the same as me but no jacket instead, he aid we had 30 minutes to get to my surprise or else we were going to be late and neither of us wanted that. We climbed into the car, the radio started blasting a song I immediately recognized as ‘Love Story’ by Taylor Swift. “Aw! Joshie you’re so cute!” I grinned, kissing the top of his hand.

Josh flushed, shaking his head at my compliment. I frowned at him, grabbing his hand into mine again once he started pulling out of the driveway, I wished he would accept my complements every now and then, it would make me feel better it I understood that he just sometimes didn’t agree with me. But we were working on it. We got to where he wanted to take me pretty quickly, but e refused to let me open my eyes half way into the ride because he said I would know where we were going if I was able to see it. My mind was running through the different possibilities of where he could be taking me, filling me with excitement.

When he said I could open my eyes I practically ripping my hands of my face. I felt my face light up at the sight of the roller skating rink, aw! Josh knew how much I loved skating, this is so sweet of him to do for me. Shit! I don’t have anything planned for me to do with him after we’re done here! “Well, come on, Ols! Let’s go skate until one of our butts are too bruised.”

I rolled my eyes at Josh, “correction, when your too bruised to skate anymore.”

I had so much fun skating around with him honestly, and during that time I had figured out what I wanted to do for him once we got back to his place. Well my place actually, I needed to set it all up before tonight. I told him that he had to wait a couple hours before coming back to mine to see his surprise. I had it planned out, he would be back right as it was getting dark, we would eat, then go through with my plan. I’m great at this!

I was hauling a bunch of blankets downstairs to the living room to make a fort, even pulling down my fairy lights to hang up around the walls. I made sue there was enough pillows that it was comfy to lay on the hardwood floors, and plenty of blankets so it didn’t get super cold when we were laying down. I pulled out a few games as well in case he wanted to play some of them too. Lots of snacks too, gosh he ate snacks like crazy I swear.

In about an hour, I was finally done setting it all up, I was proud of myself for how much I had gotten done in a short amount of time and it still looking cute. I jumped when I felt arms wrap around my waist, jesus! I forgot Josh had a key to my place. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, I turned around in his arms, kissing him softly. “You scared me.” I giggled, holding his face in my hands.

Josh mumbled an apology against my lips, smiling softly. I shrugged him off of me, grabbing his hand and pulling him into the living room, watching him grow a smile very quickly, he loved forts so much and just watching movies in the dark and cuddled up with blankets. I quirked an eyebrow at him, trying to see if I could get his approval with words and not just his super cute smile. “Oli! This is so sweet of you to do! I love you so much!” He blurted out.

My face flushed, he loves me?! I looked at him softly, pressing a kiss to his lips sweetly. “I love you too, Josh.” I hummed, looking up at him lazily.

For the next few minutes all we did was just hug each other, smiling and laughing like idiots over nothing. He finally said it! And I had the courage to say it back! Gosh, I was the luckiest boy in the world. I had almost forgot I had something planned, I just wanted to live in this moment forever but I understood that it would get uncomfortable very quickly if we just stood here for hours on end. “Come on, I already got all the snacks ready for us to eat and I have the movie set up to watch.” I grinned, pulling him to the floor with me to crawl into the fort.

I crawled to the middle, waiting for him to sit down so I could sit against his chest while we watched the film. I heard him give a soft gasp when he saw what movie it was. Yes! I got it right! “You know how much I love Rocky Horror, Oli! Thank you for this..” He hummed, kissing my cheek softly.

I grinned up at him, lacing our hands together, kissing him before starting the movie, pulling blankets up to my chest, placing a vegan cookie into his mouth, he made a muffled sound in protest but swallowed it anyways. He loved my baking and he knew it. “Thank you for the best date night ever, Oli. I love you so much.” Josh whispered, humming along to the songs playing on the screen.

“Anything for you, Joshie. I love you too.”
