Whumpees who, when injured or very sick, cry that they want to go home only for their Caretaker to remind them that they are home
Bonus points if they respond with “Home isn’t supposed to hurt!” because I think that makes it hurt more

There’s something so heartbreaking about a soft ‘Can we go home now?’ Doesn’t matter the situation. It’s always so good.
Some situations:
Home is destroyed or otherwise inaccessible
Whumpee’s in a hospital (maybe waiting in emergency or admitted)
Kidnapped
They’re at an event and feeling unwell
They’re already heading home but it’s far
They are home (and delirious)

"What are you going to do to me?"
"Oh, I will-... Uhm... Shit. I forgot, but it was something bad! And it will hurt!"

i like how odysseus says penelopes been "waiting for love" but she never shifts from her stance on "waiting for you"
she was not waiting for love. if it was love she wanted she could have found it elsewhere, couldve found it again, couldve loved again
she was waiting for him
her husband. her odysseus.
she would have no one else. not because she couldnt but because she Won't
Ever.

"wait, don't hurt them please, please just hurt me instead" caretaker pleads, pulling against their restraints as they glance over to whumpee, before returning their gaze to whumper.
"Oh, darling..." Whumper growls as they hook a finger under caretakers chin, making caretaker look up at them.
"This is hurting you"
Caretaker can only scream and pull at their restraints as whumper's attention turns towards whumpee.

doodle inspired by this animatic. go watch it, it's awesome. the song is awesome too.
Putting a read more because this got a little long, trigger warnings will be listed directly under the cut
TRIGGER WARNINGS: serious bodily harm, explosives, and suicide
I spin the wheel and secure the weight to it so the ship will stay on course. The huge black figure of the goddess that started this all looms just ahead. Her hand hovers above the other, larger ship-- she does not see me coming.
I abandon the wheel in favour of scaling the mast, reaching the empty crows' nest in record time. I seize the makeshift backpack I cobbled together earlier and pull the straps over my shoulders. It's slim enough that I can yank my coat on over it. Even if the goddess does notice my misshapen figure, she will attribute it to another sign of the transformation furthering itself. My half-formed gills itch suddenly and I raise one hand to scratch irritably at them as I run along the crossbeam, poising myself to jump at the perfect moment.
My ship nears the goddess. She's still distracted by the second ship-- excellent, the other captain has done her job well; the diversion is working.
I feel a sudden pang in my chest, this time not a sign of the curse taking hold. I wish I could spend my days in her company, sailing the seas at her side, but I must stop this curse before it takes hold of anyone else. It is too late for me.
It does not have to be too late for her.
My ship crashes straight into the goddess, as I intended, and I allow the impact to launch me straight up. I land halfway up the goddess' back. She is neither flesh nor spirit-- some sort of black spongey material instead. I don't have time to speculate, desperately clawing my way up her back. The other captain wheels her ship about and retreats a little, just as I instructed her.
The goddess is trying to grab me, scrape me off her like an annoying insect, but she is limited by her chosen form and cannot bend properly to reach me. I feel the timer on my backpack ticking down and increase my speed. I'm running out of time.
I reach the goddess' shoulder. I hesitate, looking down at her pendant hanging on its delicate thread. It is the source of her power and my target.
She can reach me now, and I dodge her slapping hands, sliding down her neck and lunging for the pendant. I seize it in my hands and kick against her chest, launching myself away from her body. The world turns upside down as I arch headfirst towards the water. The thread snaps just as easily as I hoped it would, and I clutch the pendant tightly, pressing an explosive from my backpack against it with my other hand.
My eyes meet the other captain's. When the pendant is destroyed, it will destroy the goddess as well.
But for the curse to be fully broken, I must die as well. It is too late for me, but I can still save her.
The explosive I am holding to the pendant goes off, and both the pendant and my arms go with it. Behind me, the goddess shrieks in outrage, exploding as well. Black spongey bits rain all around me as I fall through the air, but I have eyes only for the other captain. She looks terrified and sad, and her eyes widen as she realizes what I did not tell her.
There is no pain except the pain in my heart. Be happy, be free, I think, and I smile at her and close my eyes. The last thing I shall ever see is her face. My backpack ticks once-- it is worth it, to save her-- twice-- I was never saveable, but the curse ends with me-- three times, and I am gone.
Forgive me.

How to Make Your Glasses-Wearing Whumpee's Day Worse
Some fun options from a near-sighted glasses-wearing whump lover:
Dirty glasses! This might sound minor, but trust me! Dirty glasses, no proper means to clean them, and any attempt at cleaning them anyway just makes it worse? It may just be the straw that breaks the camel's back. BONUS POINT: Whumpee starts crying and end up staining the glasses even more!
Crying! Following the above point, crying + glasses = disaster. Crying may stain and/or fog up Whumpee's glasses - making everything a little more miserable. Also, rubbing your eyes while wearing glasses is difficult, and Whumpee may end up staining the glasses even more if they're not careful.
Being without their glasses! Now, we don't all turn into Velma when we lose our glasses, but Whumpee not having their glasses can still cause a lot of pain and issues. For example: trouble seeing, headaches, eye strain, tiredness (generally or just the eyes). Also, personally I get a lot more jumpy when I'm without my glasses. BONUS POINT: What happened to Whumpee's glasses? Did they lose them trying to escape Whumper? Did Whumper purposely take them? Did the glasses break in a fight?
Fear of breaking their glasses! Whumpee being in a constant fear of their glasses breaking. BONUS POINT: they get hit in the face and/or gets the glasses knocked off.
Glasses digging into the face! Getting hit in the face, slammed into a wall or manhandled can be extra painful if it makes the glasses dig into Whumpee's face. Also! Lying down can be painful and tricky!
Environmental effects! The air, weather and other environmental factors can make life more miserable for Whumpee; for example: staining the glasses, getting the glasses wet, making the glasses fog up, etc.
Make. It. Rain! Rain can be a real trouble for a glasses-wearing Whumpee. Wear the glasses and they will get wet/covered in droplets/stained, making it harder to see. Remove the glasses and Whumpee might have trouble seeing and/or navigating the environment.
Reflections! I have on multiple instances been blinded by the sun from behind. Once, the sun peeked in through a tiny hole in the curtains behind me and blinded me. Lights from behind can also be reflected in the glasses, meaning Whumpee can suddenly see some strange lights in the corner of their eyes - which can be very stressful for an anxious/paranoid Whumpee before they locate the source of the lights. Jumpy Whumpee becomes more jumpy!
Scratched lenses! A permanent spot or line (or even multiple) that cannot be cleaned or removed. Maybe it interferes with Whumpee's vision, maybe it's just incredibly annoying and makes a bad situation worse.
Bent frames! Impacts the shape and fit of glasses. Can cause big issues and might even make it impossible for Whumpee to wear their glasses. Maybe it happened in a fight, maybe Whumpee fell badly, maybe the glasses got knocked off Whumpee's face, maybe Whumper did it on purpose.
No prescription sunglasses! Again, might sound minor but can create bigger issues. Whumpee has three potential options. 1) Wear double glasses, with can be awkward and/or painful; 2) wear just the sunglasses, and suffer the consequences of being without their glasses (se above); or 3) Wear just their normal glasses, and suffer the consequences of not having any sunglasses. BONUS POINT 1: Whumpee has to maneuver a tricky environment in bright sunlight. BONUS POINT 2: Whumpee is sensitive to light.
